We’re halfway through the year which means there are just six months until we hit 2019. Netflix has plenty of returning original series but they’re also going to be pushing out many brand new original series too. We preview some of the brand new Netflix Orginal series coming in the second half of 2018.

This list in no way reflects everything Netflix has in store for you for the final six months of 2018 merely a taste. There’s something for everyone ranging from new anime, new comedy, new drama and sci-fi.

Here’s the new series Netflix has in store for you coming in the next six months.

Kiss Me First

Release Date: June 29th
Genre: Drama
Number of episodes: 6 episodes

The second big co-production of the year with Channel 4 in the UK after ‘End of the F***ing World’ is arriving the final week of June. This is an absolute must-watch for any Black Mirror fans as the whole series plays out just like a Black Mirror episode. The series is dubbed as a cyber-thriller where VR is more advanced than it is today and a young 17-year-old is sucked into the world of Azana. Two girls become close over the game but one of the friends disappears from the game and Leila has to find out what happened.

The Innocents

Release Date: August 24th, 2018
Genre: Sci-fi
Number of episodes: 8

This series is a little strange. At least that’s what we’ve taken away from the trailer which gives us insight into what’s coming up for The Innocents season 1. The series focuses on Harry and June who are two teenagers on the run and in love. They’ve been kept secret for multiple years mainly because of the powers which the two possess. Expect plenty of mystery and plenty of character development in this series.

This looks like a must-watch for Stranger Things fans albeit a little more mature.

All About the Washingtons

Release Date: August 10th, 2018
Genre: Comedy
Number: 10 episodes

This series which is set to be a sitcom was originally scheduled to be on ABC after they granted a pilot episode. That eventually fell through and it was left to Netflix to pick up the series for a full first season. Deep-rooted in hip-hop this comedy series is about a husband and wife raising their family now that Joseph Simmons is retired and his wife is out in the workforce.

Disenchantment

Release Date: August 17th
Genre: Animated Sitcom
Number of episodes: 10

If you’re looking at the artwork above and thinking it looks familiar then you’re probably right. The series comes from industry veteran Matt Groening who’s known for his other two hit shows The Simpsons and Futurama. The new fantasy series releasing exclusively on Netflix will follow the story of Bean, an alcoholic princess and her elf companion who lives in a magical kingdom. Netflix will be hoping for the series to be a success given the fact that Fox pulled all their animated sitcoms from Netflix last year. We’ve got a full preview of season 1 of Disenchantment which includes extended details surrounding the upcoming series.

The Good Cop

Release Date: September 21st
Genre: Police Comedy-Drama
Number of episodes: 10

We only know on basic details on this upcoming cop procedural comedy-drama including the cast and creators but it looks like something genuinely new coming to the service. The series stars Monica Barbaro (Chicago Justice), Tony Danza (Don Jon, Taxi) and Josh Groban (Happyland, Julie’s Greenroom). The Good Cop is about one father who lives as a disgraced cop with his son still carrying good favour in the force.

Hilda

Release Date: September 21st
Genre: Animated Kids
Number of episodes: TBA

This new animated show is an adaptation of the comics of the same name by British cartoonist Luke Pearson. Pearson has also had a role in Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time. This sweet adaptation will see the blue-haired heroin along with her deerfox go on adventures in the world of Trolberg which is infested with plentiful monsters.

Other Debut Series Coming in 2018

All of these shows mentioned below are condensed as we don’t have much more information beyond their title, synopsis and other basic information. In addition, no date has been announced except for that they’re arriving 2018.

  • 1983 is the first Polish original series that will be a spy thriller created by Agnieszka Holland.
  • Baki is a new anime series being produced by the studio behind Ghosts in the Shell.
  • Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is based on the Archie comic book and would be the type of show you’d find on The CW.  The supernatural series is expected late in 2018.
  • Green Eggs and Ham the animated adaptation of the famous Dr. Suess book is expected later this year.
  • Maniac is a new comedy series starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.

Of course, this list only reflects just the announced new Netflix Original series heading our way later in 2018. There’s still plenty of returning series plus movies too. We’ll have a preview for each of them shortly.

Which of these are looking good to you? Let us know in the comments down below.
