Disney Movies Coming to Netflix in 2018

2018 will bring with it at least six brand new theatrical Disney movies throughout the year. We’ll see some of the theatrical releases from 2017 bleed into 2018 as well as plenty of 2018 releases come to Netflix too. 

This will likely be the last Disney preview post we ever do here on What’s on Netflix. As you may know, Netflix and Disney are parting ways in 2019 where Disney is opting to put its movies on its new streaming platform. This includes Marvel and Star Wars titles too. Older Disney titles will still be dealt on a case by case basis but you can check up on all the Disney movies leaving here.

Below, we’ve listed all the Disney theatrical movies coming to Netflix next year but don’t forget, you’ll be getting Marvel Movies and a Star Wars title too!


Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Theatrical Release: May 26th, 2017
Expected Netflix Release Date: January 2nd, 2018

The fifth installment arrived in mid-2017 and will be making its way to Netflix in early 2018. Fans of Johnny Depp’s iconic character Captain Jack Sparrow will be pleased to find out more about the pirates’ origins in this movie, as the infamous pirate hunter Salazar returns from the dead to hunt down Sparrow. Aswell has including plenty of great moments that go hand in hand with the franchise, the film also gives satisfying closure to the Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann story.


Cars 3

Theatrical Release: June 16th, 2017
Expected Netflix Release Date: January 31st, 2018

The first of the two Pixar movies coming to Netflix in 2018 is a return to form for Cars with its third outing. After a somewhat disappointing second movie, the third movie went back to its routes and focused on its great lineup of characters. Lightning McQueen is facing the prospect of being made redundant after newer, faster cars come into the racing circuit. Faced with the end, he must adapt to survive.


Jagga Jasoos

Theatrical Release: July 14th, 2017
Expected Netflix Release Date: March 2018

Directed and written by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, this Bollywood style movie was/is distributed by Disney around the world. The movie is subtitled and you’ll join Jagga who along with his friend is in the search to find his missing father. It features him battling against nature, the elements and more in a movie that’s reminiscent of Around the World in 80 days.


Coco

Theatrical Release Date: November 22, 2017
Expected Netflix Release Date: June 2018

Pixar’s second movie of 2017 is a departure from what you may expect from the studio. Centered around the Day of the Dead festival in Mexico we follow Miguel on his adventure. Miguel who desperately wants to break the ban on music to become a musician himself must travel over to the land of the dead where he can meet his ancestors and become what he knows he’s born to be.


A Wrinkle in Time

Theatrical Release: March 9, 2018
Expected Netflix Release: September 2018

Based on the 1963 novel, in early 2018 Disney will be breathing a new lease of life into the science fantasy IP. Featuring Oprah Winfrey, Storm Reid, Reese Witherspoon, Midy Kaling and Zach Galifianakis, this star-studded adventure involves Meg Murry and her team to help rescue her dad from another planet.


Dolphins

Theatrical Release: April 20, 2018
Expected Netflix Release: October 2018

Disneynature has produced some fantastic movies throughout the year and their next will be taking us to the ocean and following dolphins although it’ll also cover plenty of other aquatics beings too. You’ll be following echo as he grows up and explores the big open ocean.
