Marvel Movies Coming to Netflix in 2018

Two massive Marvel movies will be coming to Netflix in 2018 thanks to the well-known Disney deal with Netflix. 2018 will be the final year where we see Marvel, Disney, Pixar and Star Wars titles come to Netflix as they’ve now decided to go their own way in 2019. 2018 is set to bring with it some epic Marvel titles to Netflix though so let’s take a look at what’s coming.

As always, there’s a delay between the theatrical date and the Netflix release date so we’ve done the calculations on your behalf below.

Note: This post only applies to Netflix in the United States

So far we’ve seen these movies added to Netflix US from the Marvel library since 2016:

  • Captain America: Civil War
  • Doctor Strange
  • Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. (Expected in November/December 2017)

Marvel Movies Coming in 2018

Thor: Ragnarok

Theatrical Release: November 2, 2017
Expected Netflix Release Date: May/June 2018

Right around the time this article was written, audiences were gearing up to head to the box office to watch the third Thor movie in cinemas. Also featuring The Hulk, all hell breaks loose on Asgard when Hela comes to destroy life as we know it. It’s the first ever female villain in a Marvel movie.

Black Panther

Theatrical Release: February 16, 2018
Expected Netflix Release Date:  November/December 2018

First encountered in Captain America: Civil War (currently streaming on Netflix) Chadwick Boseman will be reprising his role as the Black Panther due for release in early 2018. The solo outing will see T’Chall return to his homeland in Africa to sit on the throne of his father but encounters issues along the way.

What about Spiderman: Homecoming?

Unfortunately, Netflix US won’t be getting Spiderman thanks to the license belonging to Sony rather than Disney. Although it gets slightly confusing when you consider that Spiderman is now part of the MCU, just know that it’s not part of the Disney arrangement with Netflix.

Won’t these movies be removed?

All of the Marvel movies added to Netflix in the above list will be scheduled for removal at some point during 2019. We expect it’ll be on January 1st, 2019 as that’s when the deal came into force back in 2016. We’ll have more updates for you on that here.

Don’t forget Netflix will also be releasing up to 3 of its own Netflix Original Marvel series next year too as well as the update to Agents of Shield. Which of these two Marvel movies are you looking forward to in 2018? Let us know in the comments below!
