It’s a bumper month for Netflix Originals heading to Netflix in December 2015 with the service dropping several new TV series, comedy stand ups and the infamous first movie from Adam Sandler. As always we’ll list them in the order that they’ll release throughout December. It certainly looks like a mixed bag this month with the majority of titles heading to Netflix belonging to the comedy section. Late additions into the list includes the semi-Netflix Original Real Rob and a Christmas release too.

As December wraps up the year we thought we’d give a quick opinion on how we think Netflix Originals have performed in 2015. As Netflix grows and contracts become ever more competitive to get a hold of, the exclusives will be what set the services apart from each other. 2015 has been the first year that we’ve seen a real push for content in this category and for the most part it’s paying off. It’s resulted in high quality and memorable content that we hope Netflix keeps delivering for years to come. We’ll be doing a full review of Netflix Originals in 2015 later next month. In the meantime here are the Netflix Original releases scheduled for December 2015.

Real Rob (TV Series)

December 1st

real-rob-netflix-original

This series isn’t what we would class a full Netflix Original as it’s independently financed by Rob Schneider himself but it will be streaming on Netflix exclusively from the first of the month. Eight episodes of the first season will be arriving on Netflix from December 1st while a second series is already in production . The series is much like that of Fox’s Louie where it explores a more realistic and satirical view of Rob Schneiders life since becoming famous. So far the critics have been favourable to the series and can’t wait to binge watch it ourselves.

(Available on Netflix in the US, UK, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand only)

Brent Morin (Stand-Up Comedy Special)

December 1st

Brent Morin

Brent Morin will debut on Netflix on the first of December with his first comedy standup special. The special was filmed in August of this year at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. A relative newcomer to show business, Brent Morin has had success in Undateables, a live comedy show on NBC where he plays the role of an uptight flatmate. This isn’t the first foray into stand up for the comedian as he’s appeared on Conan among others often talking about his failed dating life.

A Very Murray Christmas (Comedy Special)

December 4th

A Very Murray Christmas is exactly the sort of content that’s usually reserved for the big networks around Christmas but this year it’s getting the Netflix treatment. Bill Murray along with more famous celebrities than you can shake a stick at will be joining for a musical like no other. It’s the first show of this kind that’s available on Netflix so it’ll be interesting to see what sort of reaction it will achieve and whether it’ll turn into an annual event.

The Christmas special will also be available in Ultra HD (4K)

The Ridiculous 6 (Movie)

December 11th

Now for the film that’s dividing opinions before it’s even released. But can you expect anything else from a Adam Sandler movie. The Ridiculous 6 marks the first of a multi-movie deal between Sandlers production company, Happy Madison and Netflix. The first movie is set in the Wild West where a cowboy, raised by native Americans seeks his father for answers along with the help of his brothers. It’s already been slammed for being racist and sexist but how will the final product turn out? We can’t wait to see.

The Adventures of Puss in Boots – Season 2  (TV Series)

December 11th

It’s time once again to dive back once again into the world of Shrek with Dreamworks Animations spinoff series for Puss in Boots. The first season was met with a lot of success when it first launched last year and season 2 promises to continue in that fashion with more great Puss in Boots action.

Care Bears and Cousins (TV Series)

December 18th

As part of the ever expanding children animation section on Netflix that contains many revived shows from the 90’s and beyond, Care Bears is the next to get the Netflix treatment. It’s not the first Hasbro title to be rived but one of the many Hasbro shows to be incorporated under the Netflix umbrella with Popples and The Magic School Bus being the biggest revivals. The series was scheduled to hit in early 2016 but that has seemingly been brought forward to December 18th. This will be great for keeping the younger ones busy over the Christmas period.

Not available to stream in France or Germany

Mike Epps : Don’t Take It Personal (Comedy Standup Special)

December 18th

The second Netflix Original stand up special of December comes courtesy of Mike Epps. It joins his first stand up performance called ‘Under Rated & Never Faded’. While most of his career has been featured around stand up comedy it’s worth noting his role in Next Friday and its sequel as Day-Day and a supporting role in the movie series ‘The Hangover’. This is a recording from his comedy tour throughout 2014 and through 2015 and will be available on Netflix exclusively just in time for Christmas.

F is For Family (TV Series)

December 18th

Netflix has already had success with adult animated sitcoms with Bojack Horseman so has decided to expand with the help of Bill Burr in the debut season of ‘F is for Family’. The series is set on a lower middle class family living in the 70’s. All six episodes will arrive on Netflix on December 18th and is sure to keep you giggling into the new year.
