Netflix Originals Coming to Netflix in July 2017

Welcome to our preview of all the Netflix Originals, whether that be new TV series, documentaries or movies, that are coming to Netflix throughout July 2017. Lots to look forward to including two pickups from the Sundance film festival in January and lots of comedy to look forward to as well.

Here are the Netflix Originals coming in July 2017.

The Standups (Season 1)

Release Date: July 4th, 2017

Netflix has been fantastic when it comes to comedy stand ups easily beating out HBO in the past year and even giving Comedy Central a run for its own money. In the interest of giving lesser-known names a go at the big time with a new series called The Standups. It’ll feature seven episodes which will include Nate Bargatze, Deon Cole, Fortune Feimster, Nikki Glaser, Dan Soder and Beth Stelling.


Castlevania (Season 1)

Release Date: July 7th, 2017

Netflix’s anime selection will be expanding in July with a video game adaptation in the form of Castlevania. The popular gaming franchise which has been around for decades now will be expanding into a different media format exclusively for Netflix. The timeline of when the show features is still unclear, one fan speculated that the series will take place during Castlevania 3.


Chasing Coral (Documentary)

Release Date: July 14th, 2017

Netflix will be airing another one of its Sundance festival pickups in July and it comes in the form of a global warming documentary specifically covering coral reefs. The movie was directed by Jeff Orlowski who has produced another Chasing movie called Chasing Ice released back in 2012.


Friends from College (Season 1)

Release Date: July 14th, 2017

Another new comedy sitcom is coming to Netflix in July. After all going to Harvard together, six friends reunite in their mid-forties to try and get over their midlife crisis. It’ll explore their friendships which at times are often complicated. Netflix has released several teasers for the show so far. Eight episodes are landing as part of its first season and stars Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse and plenty more.


To the Bone (2017)

Release Date: July 14th, 2017

Keanu Reeves stars in one of the big Netflix purchases from the Sundance Film Festival that took place in January 2017. It’ll co-star Lily Collins, Carrie Preston, Lili Taylor, Alex Sharp and Brooke Smith. It follows a young girl’s journey as she battles anorexia. The movie was written and directed by Marti Noxon as is partially based on her own experience with the eating disorder.


Ari Shaffir: Double Negative (2 Specials)

Release Date: July 18th, 2017

A regular guest on The Joe Rogan Experience and This Is Not Happening on Comedy Central, Ari Shaffir will be dropping two new stand-up specials on Netflix. The first special will cover Children and the second will cover Adulthood.


OZARK (Season 1)

Release Date: July 21st, 2017

Starring Jason Bateman this will fill Netflixers schedule who loved Bloodline and hopefully is Netflix’s answer to Breaking Bad. The series is about one many who relocates to hopefully wipe the slate clean from his dealings in the drug world and you can probably guess how that’s gone. The first full season of the dark new drama comes towards the end of July.
