You’ll have to forgive us for waiting until February until posting our preview of all the already announced Netflix Original series scheduled to arrive at one point or another in 2016 but it’s been a mammoth task as there’s so many! We’ve covered all the announced movies and there’s plenty to look forward there, but the original series is why you’re going to be streaming into the early hours of the morning.

As of right now – there are 23 original series currently scheduled or expected to release in 2016. That number is insane and I imagine there’s more to be announced or some that we forgot to list here.

In the interest in keeping this list as short for you as possible we’ve excluded kids series, documentaries, documentaries series or stand-up comedies. Look out for them another time.

Love (Season 1)

Release Date : February 19th

Just around the corner and the first 2016 Netflix Original series as such (excluding Better Call Saul) is Love. The unique comedy is from the mind of Judd Apatow who you may remember from such works such as Freaks and Geeks along with Undeclared. He returns with a new show exclusively for Netflix starring Community’s Gillian Jacobs and Paul Rust who has been in more movies than I can list right here.

The show goes up against quite a strong lineup of Netflix Original comedies but we believe it’ll stand it on its own fairly well with a promising concept and some great names backing the project.

Fuller House (Season 1)

Release Date : February 26th

Fuller House - Netflix Original - Season 1

The announcement of Fuller House will come as great joy to those who loved the 90’s show Full House. Netflix has revived the format bringing back some of the original cast to reprise their roles and kick off a new generation and hopefully attract a new generation to the show too. Set in San Francisco the show focuses on windowed mother of three D.J Tanner-Fuller and finds help in unlikely places to help race her boys. From early previews of the show, it looks to have all the charm that you’d expect and could be the feel-good TV show that Netflix needs.

House of Cards (Season 4)

Release Date : March 4th

Spoilers

Frank is back. After having announced that House of Cards season 5 has been announced it throws out my theory of the forth season being the last season given that it’d equal 52 episodes which happens to be the same number of cards in a deck. For those of you that finished season 3, you’ll know that Frank is in quite a tough spot. He’s going into the 2016 alone as Claire left him meaning his campaign to be elected as president becomes even tougher.

House of Cards is by far the best produced show of the Netflix Original library and currently holds our number 2 spot on the top 50 shows on Netflix for this year.

Flaked (Season 1)

Release Date : March 11th

flaked-season-1

Will Arnett has become somewhat of a poster child for Netflix being in two of its original series already and now set to debut his third, Flaked. The show developed by the Bojack Horseman and Arrested Development star alongside Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) is set to join a strong comedy lineup for 2016. Not much is known about the show given it’s not that far away. Cindy Elavsky described the show in a column as being about a ‘self-help guru named Chip who’s struggling to stay a step ahead of his own lies.’

Netflix Presents: The Characters (Season 1)

Release Date : March 11th

the-characters-netflix-original

Netflix appears to believe that sketch comedy is a worthy investment after all some of the biggest networks have picked up the format including NBC. The Characters comes off the back of the mixed reviewed W/ Bob and David that launched late in 2015.

The premise is simple, give 8 comedians complete freedom to produce whatever the heck they want. What could go wrong? Well we’ll see on March 11th.  Netflix fans will find some familiar faces among the up and comers featured here including two regulars from Orange is the New Black. The verdict is out on this one it can go either one of two ways, time will tell.

Marvel’s Daredevil (Season 2)

Release Date : March 18th

daredevil-season-2-netflix

So much is to be answered from Daredevil after dramatic endings in season 1. Daredevil is the first Marvel exclusive Netflix series to get renewed and boy oh boy we can’t wait. After our first glimpse at how Daredevil plays a bigger part in the world of Hells Kitchen in the fall’s debut season of Jessica Jones we can’t wait to see how it progresses in season two of Daredevil. If you haven’t watched the first yet, what the heck are you doing looking at what’s coming up? Go watch it now.

The Ranch (Season 1)

Release Date : April 1st

the-ranch-netflix

Coming on April 1st (we’re honest this isn’t a joke) is the brand new comedy show with some big big names on board. Ashton Kutcher is in the lineup of The Ranch along with Elisha Cuthbert, Debra Winger, Sam Elliott and Danny Masterson. 10 episodes of The Ranch are on the way this year with another 10 confirmed for a later date in 2016 most likely. The show is based upon two brothers trying to run a ranch business in Colorado.
