A huge week awaits for new Netflix releases including possibly the biggest Netflix release of 2019 with that being the fantasy series, The Witcher. Here’s a full preview of the week ahead on Netflix in the US and beyond.
Don’t forget the final two weeks of the year are stacked full of new movies and Originals. We’ve also got quite a few titles already announced for January 2020 too!
The Witcher (Season 1) N
Netflix Release Date: Friday, December 20th
It’s hard to understate how big The Witcher is at this point. It’s been getting huge viewing figures on its trailers and over on social media, the hype is huge.
The new fantasy series is pegged to be Netflix’s equivalent of Game of Thrones, similarily adapting a big novel series to a series format.
Henry Cavill stars as Gerald of Rivia who is a monster hunter.
The Magicians (Season 4)
Netflix Release Date: Monday, December 16th
If you can’t wait until Friday for a new fantasy fix, give Syfy’s The Magicians a shot. The series follows a secret academy where the students wield magic.
The series is an underrated one on Netflix and not nearly talked about enough. It’s a complex fantasy sci-fi series that will have you hooked.
The Two Popes (2019) N
Netflix Release Date: Friday, December 20th
In case you haven’t noticed, Netflix’s end of year movie lineup has been huge. With the likes of Marriage Story, The Irishman and 6 Underground, we’ve been spoiled.
To round out the year, the next big blockbuster starring Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins. They both play two popes, one incoming and the other outgoing.
Rave reviews have met the movie so far and we can’t wait to catch it on Friday.
Private Practice (Seasons 1-6)
Netflix Release Date: Sunday, December 22nd
Netflix has streamed Private Practice before but it sadly left a couple of years back. Thankfully, the series is set to return in full just in time for Christmas.
The spin-off to Grey’s Anatomy focuses on the character of Addison Montgomery who is a neonatal surgeon.
