Warner Brothers are prepping their streaming service to go live in 2020 and with that could see the removal of many of their properties from Netflix. We’ve compiled the complete list of all the titles that could be at stake.

There’s plenty of caveats here which we’ll try and go through as licensing is ridiculously complicated. The headline news here is that Warner Media content which has resided on Netflix in the United States for many years is now in play as Warner and its parent company AT&T prepares a streaming rival in 2019 and 2020.

This article comes after the AT&T CEO has stated that they’ll soon start pulling shows back from the likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon in favor of their own platforms. A similar list has also been made at another Netflix fansite.

Friends is the biggest title on the list with it expected to leave on January 1st, 2020. Even this carries caveats though as it’s been stated that a multi-year agreement could be reached where the show streams on both Netflix’s and Warner’s streaming service.

Of course, as Netflix switches its reliance onto original programming, licensed shows were always going to be in the balance especially as cord-cutting grew and the popularity of streaming services soared.

We’d certainly the argue the consumer is going to be worse off in the coming years with the fragmentation of streaming services potentially sending people back to unsavory methods of watching content.

It’s really important that nothing is confirmed at this stage and agreements are yet to be fully finalized. We see a transition period happening and certainly Netflix picking and choosing individual titles it deems worth keeping the licensing for, assuming Warner is happy.

Also, Netflix and Warner Brothers continue to work on multiple projects together. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina although showing on Netflix is actually produced by Warner Brothers. Other titles include The Kominsky Method, Disjointed, Special, It’s Bruno, What/If and Lucifer.

Without further ado, here’s a list of the titles that are distributed on Netflix by Warner Brothers and therefore potentially up for removal. This list only applies to the United States at present.

Warner Brothers titles Netflix has already lost

  • Chuck
  • Justice League
  • The Following

DC Animated

  • Batman Unlimited: Monster Mayhem
  • Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts
  • Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs Mutants

Other Warner Brothers Distributed Shows

Quite often, Warner Brothers produce shows and shop them to other networks. That’s the case in these instances. For example, Friends was sold to NBC and Gotham was sold to Fox.

  • Friends (NBC)
  • Gotham (FOX)
  • Person of Interest (CBS)
  • Shameless (Showtime)
  • The L Word
  • The West Wing

TruTV Content

  • Adam Ruins Everything
  • The Carbonaro Effect
  • Impractical Jokers

The CW Content

At the moment, The CW content on Netflix is from a blanket deal with Netflix. This deal has been in place for many years and here are all the titles that are currently included in this ongoing deal.

The CW is a subsidiary of CBS but most to all of their content is distributed outside of The CW by Warner Brothers.

The current deal is worth $1 billion and also includes many of the shows listed below also appearing on international regions too.

Hulu had a deal with The CW but saw an exodus of their content back in 2

We should know by the middle of 2019 if Netflix has managed to secure a future deal with The CW.

Update (05/20/2019): Netflix has secured its future with The CW content with all the shows listed below moving to legacy deals meaning they’ll stay on Netflix for all the new seasons. Only new The CW shows won’t be guaranteed to come to Netflix.

Here are the shows that could leave Netflix:

  • All American
  • Arrow
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Black Lightning
  • Charmed
  • Charmed (Reboot)
  • Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
  • DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
  • Dynasty
  • Gilmore Girls
  • Gossip Girls
  • Hart of Dixie
  • iZombie
  • Legacies
  • Life Sentence
  • Nikita
  • Jane the Virgin
  • Reign
  • Riverdale
  • Roswell, New Mexico
  • Supergirl
  • Supernatural
  • The 100
