As 2016 progresses we’ve seen many titles that are loved leave the service. On June 1st, over 400 movies could be expiring from the Netflix service in the US as a 5 year contract with Miramax expires. As you may know, Miramax is a big entertainment company traditionally known for publishing independent movies and foreign movies in the US. Let’s be frank, a lot of their content isn’t widely loved but there’s a few that are.

Just to recap 2016 so far, Netflix has lost contracts with the BBC and other US networks losing titles such as Doctor Who and MASH to name a couple. With regards to its movie library, the EPIX contract which saw titles such as The Hunger Games leave also had a big effect and for those who enjoy independent movies, IFC struck an exclusive deal with Hulu means that we’ll no longer be seeing their content on Netflix either. All of this is the combined efforts of Netflix wanting to switch their priority from third party content to their own produced movies which we’re getting 1 of in May and that’s an Adam Sandler movie. Most would argue that’s not a fair deal.

What we’re going to do below is pick out some of the big titles leaving and attach a full list too.

Highlights of the Miramax Library on Netflix

A lot of Miramax’s content is experimental and most would be fair to put into the B-movie category but like all successful publishers, they do have a few gems under their belts. Here’s our top picks of what you should stream before they’re lost forever.

The Tarantino Library

While not all of Quentin Tarantino’s movie are on the list below, a good majority are and they’re absolute gems of the Netflix library. Let’s start of with the big one, Pulp Fiction. This movie ranks at number 1 spot on most top lists of the Netflix library and having it removed will be a big loss for the service. From Dusk Till Dawn, the horror starring Tarantino is also scheduled to be removed. Add to that both Kill Bills are also scheduled to leave and you’ll have a massive void on the service. Not only the Miramax Tarantino movies are being removed though, Inglorious Basterds has its removal date slightly early in May leaving on May 22nd.

Other Highlights

Cult classics Sin City from 2005 and Trainspotting from 1996 are both in the catalog as well as fan-favorites Good Will Hunting and The Aviator. You’ve also got teen comedy Adventureland and foreign classic Amelie on the list of titles leaving too.

Full disclaimer : Just because the contract is about to expire doesn’t mean that Netflix can’t renew the contract and if that happens, then it’s likely all these movies will remain on the service. It’s also worth noting that not all of these movies are showing expiration dates on Netflix so some may be saved and others lost.

The full list is made possible because of the folks over at Expiring on Netflix blog.
