The month of May 2016 sees 5 Netflix DVD updates and as always as we’re approaching the end of the month, it starts to slow down making it much harder for us to pick out highlights but the show must go on as they say. Here’s the complete list of new DVD releases available this week and a few of our highlights too.
The biggest name on this list is the 2016 comedy smash hit sequel, Ride Along 2. The followup comes just two years after the first movie hit the cinemas and with the cast remaining in-tact it’s time to go once again ride along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart tracking down those pesky criminals. Even though the movie was bashed by the critics and let’s face it, most of these type of movies often do, somehow it went onto be a monster hit at the box office pulling in $124 million dollars with a $40 million budget. That’s the power of Kevin Hart nowadays.
Just the two box sets this week with one being the hit TNT show Major Crimes. Season 5 starts up again on June 6th so it’s worth pulling in the crime boxset now to get caught up. The show is your classic crime procedural series with a group of detectives tracking down cases although it has the budget and style of a smaller network and while that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it may be a bit of a come down if you’re used to the likes of Bones and Criminal Minds. The second boxset is for Outsiders, a debut series on WGN and is actually the networks third originally produced show and it’s about a clan who’s struggling to maintain control and power in their small settlement in Kentucky.
Finally, given how many of you love your horror movies, Krampus may be a good pick for a scare.
