If you’re looking for streaming seasons 1, 2 or 3 of The Leftovers on Netflix then sadly, you’ll be out of luck everywhere on Netflix. For an explanation as to why read on otherwise, we suggest you go and look how to get HBO in one form or another.

The HBO show which began in 2014, begins three years after a global event which saw 2% of the world’s population vanish. It fast forwards three years where rampant cults have sprung up and everywhere is on the brink of chaos.

The series, although very popular, was renewed for its third and final season which at the time of writing, is currently airing on HBO. That’s why this question has come up quite a lot recently with people wanting to catch up but sadly, Netflix is not the place to do that.

Just a bit of a recap for those of you who are not aware of the relationship that HBO and Netflix has. To put it bluntly, there is no working relationship. In the early days, HBO outlined that they would not be buying into streaming services. This was somewhat shaken when some of their back catalog was added to Amazon Prime although that looks to have finished. Particularly with Netflix, HBO expressed their intention to never put their titles on the streaming provider.

This applies to all HBO titles including big hitters such as Girls, Game of Thrones, The Sopranos among many other massive HBO shows. It obviously sucks that this is the case but at least this gives you a reason as to why it will never be.

The best way to stream HBO shows is to either have an HBO subscription or a subscription to its HBO Go application. Netflix’s DVD service does carry seasons 1 and 2 of The Leftovers though in case you have a subscription there.

As for similar titles on Netflix, we highly recommend giving Between ago. The Canadian series also focuses on the vanishing of people under different circumstances, however.
