It’s The End of the F***cking World is the new Netflix Original series coming on January 5th. Get ready to be horrified but also at the same time as the British comedy is about to take the world by storm. Below, we’ve got a comprehensive preview of what to expect, the full cast list, season 1 details and even a look at a possible second season.

The show is a cross-production between the United Kingdom’s Channel 4 and Netflix who will be distributing the show internationally. We’ve seen this scenario before with Black Mirror (up until Netflix took over the show completely), Lovesick (same end result as Black Mirror), Crashing and Ricky Gervais’s Derek. The series was first given the greenlit back in 2016 and aired first in the United Kingdom to rave reviews in October 2017.

Cast of It’s The End of the F***ing World

Pictured: Alex Lawther as James

Alex has shot to fame in the past year having appeared in multiple massive TV series and movies. For Netflixers, you will almost certainly recognise him for playing the role of Kenny in Black Mirror season 3 in the episode named Shut Up and Dance. The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch was Alex’s first big break however back in 2014 where he played the young Alan Turing. He’s also starred in a BBC mini-series this year called Howards End.

If you’ve seen Shut Up and Dance, you’ll see many similar traits between James and Kenny as both are withdrawn from the world.

Pictured: Jessica Barden as Alyssa

If you’ve never seen any of Jessica Barden’s work before then you’ve been missing out. Her biggest role was playing Justine in the fantasy horror series Penny Dreadful. Before that, she’s appeared on British shows and soaps including The Outcast and Coronation Street.

Those above are the two main characters who will appear in every episode but other actors/actresses in the show include:

  • Steve Oram as Phil
  • Jayda Mitchel as Hillbilly
  • Jack Veal who will be playing the younger version of James
  • Wunmi Mosaku as Teri
  • Gemma Whelan as Eunice

What’s the show about?

At 17, James is almost certain he’s a psychopath and plots to kill a girl he’s got his eye on. What results is an unlikely romantic relationship between two misfits who set on a quest to find Alyssa’s Dad on a road trip.

How many episodes in season 1 and Release Date?

Eight episodes are going to be released in season 1. The entire season is dropping on Netflix on January 5th, 2018.

Will Netflix UK be getting the show?

Absolutely, it was announced in the Netflix UK lineup plus other regions. If you fancy watching the series earlier though, Channel 4 aired the series back in October and is still available for catch-up on All4. This is only available for residents of the United Kingdom.

Season 1 Trailer
