Luke Cage season 2 is now out in the wild and if you’re looking for if and when season 3 will come to Netflix then keep it locked right here. We’ve got everything you need to know about season 3 of Luke Cage including its renewal status and release date. Unfortunately, though, it looks as though Luke Cage season 3 may not actually arrive on Netflix until 2020 at the earliest.

Season 2 built on the success of the first season and has married a fantastic soundtrack, some great cameos and action into one of the best Luke Cages to date. Although there has been some criticism for Marvel’s efforts on Netflix recently with a few dud seasons here and there, they’re still wildly successful.

Season 2’s ending kept things open leading us to believe there will be a second season.

Has Luke Cage been renewed for season 3?

Official renewal status: Not yet renewed (Last update: 07/02/2018)

As of the time of writing, Luke Cage hasn’t yet been given the thumbs up for the third season. With that said and looking at the other titles, every Marvel series currently has a new season in development with the exception of The Defenders which was a limited one-off series.

We’re currently waiting for a new season of The Punisher, Daredevil and the recently confirmed Jessica Jones.

New seasons of Marvel shows get renewed a few months after its season premieres. We’re expecting an announcement by the end of August at the latest.

When will season 3 of Luke Cage be on Netflix?

As our headline suggests, we don’t think we’ll be getting the next season of Luke Cage for a year at the least. Marvel shows have been releasing onto Netflix three times a year. In 2018 for example, Jessica Jones season 2 landed in early 2018, Luke Cage in summer and Iron Fist S2 later this year. Next year, we’re expecting Daredevil season 3 and The Punisher season 2. The series after that would likely be the third season of Jessica Jones meaning the next available opportunity would be to release in early 2020.
