Netflix has made another BBC acquisition picking up new drama comedy series White Gold for season 1 and season 2 and likely beyond as well. Below, we’ll give you the lowdown on the brand new show plus also look into region availability and when season 2 will be heading to Netflix.

With a similar aesthetic as Life of Mars, this series is set in Essex, England during the 1980’s and follows a dodgy sales company who are looking to set the world on fire with their double glazing windows. Along with his two dysfunctional staff, Vincent Swan must keep the business afloat.

Season 1 began airing on the BBC in May and across six episodes it wrapped up in June. The series stars Ed Westwick known mostly for his role as Chuck Bass in Gossip Girl but has also starred in a whole host of big budget movies. He’s joined by two of the lads from the popular British comedy series The Inbetweeners, James Buckley and Joe Thomas.

The series has been picked up in the majority of Netflix regions (excluding the UK) such as the United States and Canada who received the whole of season 1 on Netflix on August 17th, 2017. It joins many other BBC series which are marketed as a Netflix Original such as Luther, Peaky Blinders and Sherlock. As a result of this deal, it’s likely that new seasons in the future will come much faster than the two-month gap we’ve had to wait for season 1.

This deal does exclude the United Kingdom as the series airs first on the BBC. It’s not currently available on its iPlayer service but will likely reappear before season 2 begins airing.

When will Season 2 of White Gold be on Netflix?

The series has already been renewed for a second season that has been pegged for a 2018 release date. BBC comedies do tend to follow a yearly release schedule which means it will likely air in the UK in May/June 2018 and then get added to Netflix soon after. We’ll have news closer to the time about the schedule for season 2 as new episodes might drop weekly as they do with other shows in a similar setup.
