If you’ve been stressing over the disappearance of many of the BBC content which was set to expire come February 2nd you can now breathe a sigh of relief. Netflix has obviously begun negotiations early with the BBC and has renewed most – not all – of the BBC content. This of course doesn’t include any new content which is scheduled to hit Netflix. Our February preview didn’t reveal any content for the BBC but we suspect some is coming.

So let’s start with the most important thing. Doctor Who is not leaving Netflix in February. Both Classic Doctor Who and the modern Doctor Who including seasons 1 – 7 will remain on the service. Will season 8 of Doctor Who come in February? We wouldn’t be surprised at all. Season 8 of Doctor Who saw the introduction of Peter Capaldi to take the position of Matt Smith. This also includes the staying of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood too.

Now let’s go through what’s going to stay and what’s still scheduled to leave.

Leaving on February 2nd No Longer Leaving on February 2nd
  • Fawlty Towers – Complete
  • Blackadder
  • MI-5 (Spooks)
  • Red Dwarf – Complete
  • Classic Doctor Who – 18 Collections
  • Copper – Season 1 and 2
  • Doctor Who – Seasons 1 to 7
  • House of Cards Trilogy
  • Keeping Up Appearances
  • Luther – Seasons 1 to 3
  • Monarch of the Glen – Seasons 1 to 6
  • North and South
  • The Buccaneers
  • The Office (UK) – Seasons 1 to 2
  • Torchwood – Seasons 1 to 4
  • Wallander – Seasons 1 to 3

So what do you think Netflix fans? Are you glad that Netflix has renewed some of the BBC library and equally are you disappointed over the selections its chose not to renew. Of course when it comes to the content refresh in February keep it locked on What’s on Netflix where we’ll deliver everything new.
