A brand new motoring show is coming to Netflix called ‘Fastest Car’ and is the first of its kind on Netflix and will be released on Netflix on April 6th.

The series isn’t following the magazine format of its rivals more the style of a series like American Chopper. Each episode will see the team repair what they call a ‘sleeper’ car to take on the big boys such as Ferrari’s and Porsches. The series will be three episodes long with an hour each episode.

Beyond just the modification of the cars including a 1984 Honda CRX and Pontiac minivan, the series will also look more into the subculture surrounding the modifications.

Netflix’s Top Gear Killer?

Netflix has been solely reliant on the BBC for its car programming up until now. Fastest Car is coming to Netflix exclusively as an Original but is it the alternative to Top Gear and The Grand Tour we’ve all be waiting for? The answer is probably not just given the format of the show. With that said, it could lead the way to more programming in this genre for Netflix which will be a big hit for Netflix.

One of the main ingredients of the success of both Top Gear and The Grand Tour is the hosts. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond’s bickering, on-screen chemistry makes the subject of the show almost secondary.

The Grand Tour swooped the trio away from the BBC after an unsavory exit. Two seasons of the show are currently available on Amazon but its future is up in the air.

We’ll wait to see what sort of impact Fastest Car has when it lands in just a couple of weeks.

What do you think about Fastest Car? Is it Netflix’s Top Gear killer?
