Last month, the official lineup of three of the main actors were announced who will be playing major roles in Netflix’s 2016 TV series called ‘The Crown’. Set back in the early days of Queen Elizabeth the II just after the second World War and spans the stories decades after it’s going to tell and exclusive inside story of the life of the current Queen.
There’s a lot left to be announced plot wise but we do know that the first season will have 10 episodes and will be added to Netflix world-wide.
Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II
This is going to be no easy job for Claire to fulfil and even the likes of industry veteran Helen Mirren struggled to live up to expectations. Claire Foy has had success with small parts in TV and movies as you can see from below.
Matt Smith as the Duke of Edinburgh
Most of you will know Matt Smith from his outing as the Doctor before Peter Capaldi took over the role. Like the previous Doctor before him, Matt has taken up the role on a Netflix Original but arguably a more serious role than David Tennant who’s playing the villain in the upcoming Marvel series Jessica Jones.
John Lithgow as the Sir Winston Churchill
If you’ve watched Dexter like me, then a single look at the face above would’ve made your blood boil. John Lithgow is a veteran of the acting business and a fine addition to The Crown with a back catalogue to be in awe of.
