The Punisher. We saw him in Daredevil. He made us run, hide and cry. He’s a tough soldier and now he’s joining Daredevil and Jessica Jones with his own series on Netflix.
Marvel’s The Punisher is coming to Netflix and will be the sixth Marvel-Netflix collaboration. The Punisher, Frank Castle, will be played by Jon Bernthal, who played the character in the second season of Daredevil. It’s most likely to be a very dark and violent series to follow-up from his reputation in Daredevil, which follows a trend of Marvel shows produced for Netflix which can be quite explicit.
Several months ago, TV Line revealed that a show was in development and so there were lots of rumours about what it could be. Only now has it been officially confirmed that we will see more of the brutal character Frank Castle.

Mike Colter will also star as Luke Cage on Netflix, which will be released in September 2016, as well as Finn Jones as Iron Fist, which was announced to have an early 2017 release schedule. All these series are set to form one big series called The Defenders. Marvel has been giving fans a lot of new stories, including Captain American: Civil War, which was recently released in cinemas and Doctor Strange, which is still yet to air. However, the Netflix series have not been forgotten and we are set to see a lot more on our screens.
As The Punisher was considered by many fans to be one of the most gripping things about the second series of Daredevil, it’s not surprising that Marvel has announced that the military vet will get his own show. Steve Lightfoot, who is the Hannibal writer and executive producer, will be the show-runner and executive producer and is set to write the first two episodes of the series.
