So what are your favorite B-list horror movies? Are they about Zombies? Gigantified creatures of the deep? Or do you like budget horrors with Sharks and Tornadoes? SyFy seems to think so and over the past few years, the Sharknado franchise has been a favorite to many to binge on. But we sadly have to report that the Sharknado franchise is scheduled to leave Netflix!

Over the past decade, SyFy has really nailed down their position as one of the best worst producers of sci-fi films in recent years. Taking the cheese that is science fiction to untold levels it’ll be hard any studio to top them. From Giant Anacondas to Giant Sharks fighting Giant Octopuses, no creature is safe from Gigantication. Except in recent years, it’s the Sharknado franchise that has infiltrated pop culture.

What is the Sharnado Franchise?

Sharknado is literally what’s written on the tin. It’s a series of films about Sharks that get caught up in cyclones that cause bloody chaos for wherever it hits. Does this sound crazy? Of course, because it is absolutely bonkers and embodies everything that is both rubbish and great about cheesy sci-fi films. Just when you think the bizarre films can’t get any crazier, each subsequent film tops the previous one with the over the top and whacky plot.

The current list of Sharknado films are as follows:

Title IMDb Score Rotten Tomatoes
Sharkando 3.3 82%
Sharknado 2: The Second One 4.1 59%
Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! 4.1 36%
Sharknado: The 4th Awakens 4 15%
Sharknado 5: Global Swarming 4 30%
The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time 3.7 27%

Did you know: Donald Trump was set to play the President of the United States in Sharknado 3, but due to his real-life presidential campaign he had to decline the role.

Why is the Sharknado franchise scheduled to leave Netflix?

When Sharknado 5 arrived on Netflix it was on the 1st of January 2018. Therefore we can assume the remaining Sharknado films were only licensed for a year. With New Years soon upon us, the license agreement is almost at an end.

But what about the 6th Sharknado film!?

For fans waiting in anticipating for the release of the last Sharknado film will be disappointed to hear that the last film in the series is unlikely to arrive on Netflix.
