This Sunday sees the return of the spectacular period-drama The Crown. With an exciting new cast featuring Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter and Tobias Menzie, the third season could be the best yet. But what time will The Crown season 3 be on Netflix? Let’s find out.
Typically the latest and biggest Originals arrive on Fridays, but with The Crown arriving on a Sunday, it has left some subscribers feeling confused.
Netflix has previously gone against the Friday release dates for some of its biggest titles. The second season of Jessica Jones was released on International Women’s Day, March 8th, whereas the third season of Stranger Things dropped on Independence Day, also a Thursday.
Is there is a historical significance to the release date?
Not that we know of.
The only historical significance we found was on November 17th, 1558, Queen Elizabeth I ascended the throne upon the death of her sister Queen Mary. While this may have nothing to do with the current Windsor-Mountbatten matriarch, it’s definitely worth mentioning.
A Sunday release date is more than likely Netflix appealing to the British audience, who typically see some of the best of British television arrive on a Sunday.
