Among the FX and Fox shows scheduled to leave Netflix is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. While we wait for official confirmation it’d be worth catching up with the show just in case it disappears which we anticipate happening in December 2017.

Update (11/20/2017): Netflix has officially listed the show to be removed in December.

It’s worth noting that this currently only applies to It’s Always Sunny Philadelphia on Netflix in the United States. Other regions such as the United Kingdom have an ongoing deal with the show for exclusivity.

It’s Always Sunny is undoubtedly the biggest comedy that FX is currently and has aired. The show will, after its next couple of seasons be tied with one other show as the longest running live-action sitcom in US TV history. As you may know, it stars Charlie Day, Danny Devito, RobMcElhenney and Kaitlin Olson who are known as ‘the gang’ and they run the Irish bar in South Philadelphia known as Paddy’s Pub.

Netflix has had regular updates for It’s Always Sunny for quite some time getting new seasons typically before the new one is about to start which in most cases is every January. The current expiration date we have for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia is December 10th, 2017 although this is of course, subject to change.

Why is it leaving?

In the summer of 2016, Netflix and Fox announced that their deal bringing all of their shows from both Fox and FX had come to an end. As a result, we’ve seen the slow removal of both their respective libraries being removed. You can keep up to date on the Fox and FX shows leaving Netflix on our site.

Could it be saved?

Theoretically yes. Some FX shows have already left Netflix including The League but American Horror Story, scheduled to leave in October 2017 has remained on Netflix. Netflix also has a deal in place to keep American Crime Story on Netflix too. Of the remaining FX shows, both Archer and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia make the most sense to continue getting new seasons of. We’ll let you know closer to the time if Netflix decides to renew.
