The popular kid’s TV series Degrassi: Next Class, which set out to reboot the Degrassi brand has been firing on all cylinders with four seasons now under its belt in two years. If you’ve now caught up with the latest season, don’t worry more is likely on the way and soon too.
Degrassi: Next Class is a show within the Degrassi Universe along with four other main series. Sadly, of the five series in the universe, only Next Class is on Netflix which is strange given it’s original. The series is a co-production between Netflix and Canadian TV channel Family (F2N). Episodes typically run in a two week period on that network in Canada before getting added to Netflix worldwide soon after.
The series focuses on a group of students at Degrassi Community School and like its predecessors covers all sorts of coming of age topics such as sex, drugs, relationships, self-image, sexuality, racism and a whole host of other issues.
The reception to the show has generally been very good with previous fans of Degrassi giving it a thumbs up as well as new-comers which many Netflixers will be.

Official Renewal Status for Season 5: Pending (Last updated: 07/08/2017)
Thankfully, the release schedule up until this point has been consistent and fast. Season 1 launched in January 2016, season 2 in July 2016, season 3 in January 2017 and season 4 in July 2017. Given the series has to do a fortnight run on the original network in Canada first, season 5 of Degrassi: Next Class will almost certainly be on Netflix by mid-January 2018. That means you have 6 short months at the very least before the next season of Degrassi: Next Class will be streaming on Netflix. Season 5 will likely once again contain 10 new episodes bringing the total episode count up to 50.
