The biggest TV show in history is back on the screens and while it remains exclusive to HBO, it still gets distributed in the old fashioned DVD/Blu-ray set. Netflix’s DVD service still operates and will be carrying season 8 of Game of Thrones but when? Let’s take a look.

As you know, Game of Thrones is a cultural phenomenon. The popularity of the show has ballooned and nobody, including Netflix, has been able to catch up in terms of scope or scale.

As we’ve discussed many times before, Netflix streaming doesn’t carry Game of Thrones nor will it anytime soon. Netflix does have some alternatives but let’s be honest, there’s nothing like watching the real thing.

With that said, Netflix still operates its DVD service in the United States of America. Netflix began its DVD rental business long before it became the main player it is in the streaming world.

When will you be able to rent Game of Thrones season 8 on boxset through Netflix DVD?

At the moment, there’s no specific release date for when Game of Thrones season 8 will be joining Netflix’s DVD platform. We can, however, take a look at the last season to see how long it took before it was available.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones was added to Netflix’s DVD service back in December 2017. The series concluded on HBO on August 27th, 2017. That means it took roughly four months to release on Netflix DVD last time.

Using this we can conclude that it’ll likely be added in either November or December 2019 on Netflix’s DVD rental. A word of warning though, you’ll have to be quick at reserving as we suspect it’ll be really quick at running out.

We’ll update this once we get an official DVD boxset release but until then, give Netflix’s DVD service a try again if you haven’t in a while, it’s still world class.
