One of the biggest shows on Netflix is The Vampire Diaries which is now heading into its final season in 2016. For those without access to The CW will be asking as to when we can expect season 8 of The Vampire Diaries on Netflix? We’re here with good news that the show will be on Netflix earlier than ever.
Why has The Vampire Diaries become such a popular show on Netflix? Well, it’s probably because of how easy it is to binge through and given its engaging story and a universe, makes it much easier than other shows.
In The Vampire Diaries, we head to Mystic Falls where two vampire brothers and a human teenage girl get into all kinds of trouble with other supernatural beings. It’s worth pointing out that there’s a spinoff for The Vampire Diaries too which is also available on Netflix.

As with other shows from The CW including season 5 of Arrow, season 3 of The Flash and season 2 of Supergirl, The Vampire Diaries was part of the renewal contract that was struck between The CW and Netflix during the summer.
In this new deal, we’ll be getting new series of their shows a lot faster than normal. Where most years we have to wait until October to get new seasons of The Vampire Diaries, Netflix will instead be getting the show soon after the show’s season finale, so let’s take a look as to when that is.
This year, the show’s final season is a much shorter 16 episodes compared to the 22 that started a little later than normal on October 21st, 2016. That means the series is likely to wrap up on television in March/April 2017. If like the other CW shows, are scheduled to arrive on Netflix 8 days afterward, we can expect the series to land on Netflix in April or May 2017.
For those in the United Kingdom, you’ll still have to wait quite a while as the release date for season 7 of The Vampire Diaries has only just been announced for December 1st. This leads us to believe that the UK will have to wait until December 2017 for season 8.
