The Secret Life of Pets 2 is now out in the cinemas but also should be arriving on Netflix in many regions over the coming years. Below, we’re going to take a look at what the streaming plans for The Secret Life of Pets 2 and when the movie will be on Netflix.
The sequel to the 2016 hit will see the return of the loveable pets that were introduced in the first Secret Life of Pets. The movie comes from Illumination Studios who are home to some of the biggest animated movies in recent years such as The Grinch, Minions, Despicable Me and Sing.
The returning and new voices for the second outing include Patton Oswalt, Kevin Hart, Harrison Ford, Jenny Slate, Lake Bell, Bobby Moynihan among many more.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 Netflix US Release Date
We are currently expecting The Secret Life of Pets 2 to come to Netflix thanks to all previous Illumination titles coming to Netflix.
Although Netflix doesn’t have a deal with Universal on its main movie output (that’s currently with HBO) it does get all of the animated titles they distribute. Similar deals are in place for Sony Pictures for example.
Let’s look at a couple of recent examples of when new Illumination titles have found their way onto Netflix.
Sing, one of the most popular new Illumination releases in recent years first released in cinemas back in December 2016. It then took eight months for it to come on Netflix in August 2017. It then subsequently left Netflix in October 2018.
The most recent example is The Grinch which is an animated retelling of the classic Dr. Suess story. That title released in cinemas in November 2018 and is seeing its release in June 2019.
In November 2019 as part of the December 2019 lineup, Netflix announced that the second movie is scheduled to release on Netflix on December 27th, 2019.
Will The Secret Life of Pets 2 be on other Netflix regions?
For Netflixers in the United Kingdom, you’re also likely to get The Secret Life of Pets 2. The titles typically come out 2 years after its theatrical release so it’s likely going to be on Netflix in May or June 2021.
