The question as to whether Castle is streaming on Netflix has become a bigger one in recent months as the highly respected Castle has now been cancelled after 8 long seasons. We’re going to take a look at whether it’s streaming on Netflix in any region and whether or not we think the show is on the cards for a Netflix appearance in the future.

The ABC show has been running since 2009 and concluded in 2016 after 8 seasons. Known for its charismatic cast, it was a crime/comedy drama where Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, is joined by a NYPD detective to solve unusual crimes throughout New York City.

Winner of a multitude of awards, it was expected that season 9 of the show was inevitable with most of the cast actually signing up for a final sendoff season. ABC decided not to.

Now that the series has been concluded it could come to Netflix as years progress and the license inevitably loses its value overtime as it’s not in the spotlight as much so what are the prospects of it joining Netflix. Well they’re better than say a year or two ago but still fairly slim.

You see, ABC has locked up Castle from streaming services with only a few episodes available on Hulu Plus and only available on VoD on Amazon. So streaming Castle is near on impossible at the moment.

What about the possibility of a Netflix revival of Castle? Again fairly slim, even though the cast is ready to go with contracts signed you’d still need a fairly significant investment to not only acquire the old series but to fund the production of a ninth. That’s some I don’t personally think Netflix has within its budget especially if it is only for a sign-off series.

Looking around the world, Castle is vacant from all Netflix regions. ABC clearly values the license abroad too.

If anything changes, we’ll be sure to let you know but at the moment it does look like Castle will remain missing on the Netflix library.
