Is ‘King Kong’ on Netflix?

The first time King Kong reached the screens was in 1933 as a monster adventure film produced by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack. The film was at the forefront of special effects technology at the time, including miniatures, stop-motion and rear projection. This classic was voted one of the best horror movies of all time and made a total of $51 million (adjusted for inflation) in the Box office.

The 1933 film spawned three remakes, one in 1976, 2005, and of course the newest adaptation ‘Kong: Skull Island’ that was recently released in cinemas (10th March 2017) starting Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and Brie Larson.

The 2005 remake directed by Peter Jackson and had a (at the time) record-breaking budget of $207 million and overall was a domestic and worldwide success and actually won 3 Oscars along with another 39 awards.

The film takes place in 1933 during the Great Depression and follows an ambitious filmmaker Carl Denham played by Jack Black. He hires a crew and along with his cast, they journey across perilous waters to the dreaded and mysterious Skull Island. Where they will discover many dangers, including a tribe of Kong worshiping cannibals, deadly predators, huge oversized man-eating insects and witnessing an epic fight between Dinosaurs and a massive Ape.

Currently, the 2005 film is unfortunately not available to stream anywhere on Netflix at this moment, but you are able to rent the film from either Google Play or the Movies section of YouTube, so that would probably be your best bet for online streaming.

The title is also not available to rent on Netflix DVD, but if you keep up to date with our DVD Releases you might be able to find it in the near future.
