Following on from the success of the Dead Rising video games, the movie is loosely based upon the plot of the video game, a lot of Game to Movie adaptations don’t tend to do all that well but the film did well enough to warrant a sequel which was released back in June 2016. While fans of the franchise may prefer to stick to the video games this film is a guilty pleasure for others.

Housing in the area is too high of a risk to scavenge with the threat of the infected lurking in the area. As she slowly loses hope of civilization returning she comes across the Injured Chris and his teenage step-daughter Olivia.
For a Zombie movie, the film builds upon suspense rather than working with gore, keeping in tune the idea of isolation and mistrust of the outside world. Again not a gore fest but in a world plagued by Zombie movies the narrative is an interesting take on a genre leaves a lasting impression.

Set in the near future a virus is ravaging the world, after witnessing the fall of New York Dr. Lauren Chase travels to Los Angeles and with assistance from her recon team, they search the Streets of L.A with the hopes of finding survivors of the Pandemic.
The film is shot almost exclusively from a POV angle switching from character to character, director John Suits had to do a lot of research into the POV genre and doesn’t consider his film as in the ‘Lost Footage’ genre. The film consisted of a Male and Female camera operator for the POV, the operator would change depending on the Gender of the Character’s POV during the film.
Director: Stuart Brennan
Cast: Stuart Brennan, Mark Paul Wake, Victoria Morrison, Brooke Burfitt
IMDB Rating: 3.9/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Rating: N/A%
After a Zombie virus plagues the world, survivalist Craig puts his Zombie Survival plan into motion to save him and his friends from the flesh-eating members of the undead.
Probably as a low a budget as you can get for a Zombie movie and that’s saying something, most of its budget appears to of been spent on some of the abroad locations prior to the events of the undead hordes. The lack of extra budget really hurts the film but as a passion project to create a Zombie survival movie you can appreciate the dedication and time to what Stuart Brennan was trying to achieve, give him a solid budget and I’d be intrigued to see what he can create.
Ravenous Netflix Original
Director: Robin Aubert

This B-list horror should be taken as what it is… A B-list horror. The film hasn’t blown people away by any means but if you’re looking for a Zombie film with a different take on genre then give this a watch.

Married realtors, Sheila and Joel, who are living a quiet life, raising their teenage daughter in Santa Clarita, Calif. Their world unexpectedly changes when Sheila goes through a dramatic transformation that sends her down a road of death and destruction but leaves her looking and feeling better than ever.
The series could be compared to Weeds with Zombies. The series finds its own edge in the Zombie genre and definitely stands out amongst the horde. it is very light-hearted for a Zombie series but a fun zombie comedy is a nice change of pace for an already heavy clad genre filled with all too traditional troupes.
The Lazarus Effect
Director: David Gelb

IMDB Rating: 5.2/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 15%
A group of medical researchers attempts to learn how to bring patients back from the dead. After an experiment goes wrong the research team will pay the price of playing god.
Not a traditional ‘Zombie’ movie and some may argue it isn’t a Zombie movie as there’s no flesh and gore being digested by the undead. But as a Zombie is reanimated dead this movie qualifies. It would be good to go into this movie with an open mind and while it hasn’t received the best of responses from critics at the end of the day what horrors do get praised? Best make the judgement for yourself.
The Return of the Living Dead
Director: Dan O’Bannon

In Louisville, Kentucky After a pair of idiot employees at the local medical supply warehouse accidentally release a toxic gas into the air, the gas raises corpses back from the dead. The now resurrected dead are on the hunt for their favorite food… Brains.
The Return of the Living Dead is a cult classic, and during the time of George A Ramero’s time as King of the Zombie genre, this film still managed to stand out above the ever-growing horde of Zombie movies. A must see for any zombie enthusiast.

Unfortunately, the show was canceled after only one season by A&E and while it gained favorable reviews the show wasn’t able to conclude its story by the end of series one. The series is an adaptation of the French series Les Revenants which internationally was broadcast with the same name ‘The Returned’.

So basically what if Jurassic Park met Dawn of the Dead just without the Dinosaurs is the best way to describe this movie. Not the most memorable but an easy watch to shut your mind off too.
The Walking Dead (TV Series)
Cast: Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Danai Gurira, Lauren Cohen

While the quality of the show has dipped in recent seasons its fan following still remains extraordinarily loyal and that doesn’t look to change anytime soon and with 8 seasons and 115 episodes you can binge to your heart’s content.

The ever-growing horde of Zombie movies grows with each passing year, some are poor, some are charming low budget passion projects and some are absolutely fantastic. Train to Busan one of those that stands out in the Horde and deserves a place at the top of your watch list.

After a chance encounter, while hunting with other zombies for flesh, the weird zombie named R rescues the young woman from being eaten and takes her back to his home. As the pair bond R starts to change and Julie takes note that R is not like any other zombie that has been encountered. As R progressively becomes more human it says off a chain of events that could potentially save the world.
The zombie Rom-com is really charming and puts a great spin on the genre. The movie is perfect for those that are into light-hearted rom coms while also enjoying the element of the undead in the background, while I wouldn’t consider this a horror movie it’s a great zombie movie in its own right.
What We Become
Director: Bo Mikkelson
Cast: Benjamin Engell, Troels Lyby, Mille Dinesen, Ella Solgaard, Marie Boda
Run-time/Episodes: 85 Minutes
IMDB Rating: 5.6/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 78%
In a small Danish town a family must fight for survival after their town is quarantined during a Zombie outbreak.
A slow burner for a Zombie movie, it takes a long time for the Zombies to appear in this one but the movie spends most of the time building up to the outbreak that sweeps throught the town. The Dnaish horror is definitely worth a watch, just don’t expect guts and gore throughout.
Z Nation (TV Series)
Cast: Russel Hodgkinson, Nat Zang, Keith Allan, Kellita Smith, Anastasia Baranova, DJ Qualls
Run-time/Episodes: 4 (55 Episodes)
IMDB Rating: 6.7/10 | Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 45%
Three years after the zombie virus has gutted the United States of America a team of everyday heroes must transport the only known survivor of the plague from New York to California, where the last functioning viral lab waits for his blood.
Don’t let the ratings fool you, this show is one hell of a fun zombie series to watch. While it doesn’t quite take itself as serious as what the Walking Dead does it’s the fact it doesn’t take itself so seriously that adds to the charm of the show, it isn’t afraid to go out there try something new. Yes, while it can get a little silly in parts the series is still wildly entertaining.
