Some massive shows are due to leave Netflix United Kingdom in January 2017. So get ready to binge through this massive selection of big TV series that are scheduled to leave the service next month.

We’ve mentioned a few of the shows in the title but let’s start off with as to why they’re leaving. Netflix secures third-party content (content made by providers other than Netflix) by acquiring licenses to stream the shows. These normally work in yearly cycles and January 1st is when a lot of the cycles come to a close. In some cases, Netflix chooses to renew the show but in some cases decides to let it go. Often there are cases when the shows have been bought out by another provider meaning Netflix simply has no choice other than to expire them.

Let’s run through the big hitters.

House M.D is the first big show to be leaving on January 1st. The Fox show which has been on Netflix UK since November 2014 is likely going exclusive on NowTV where Fox currently hosts most to all of its content currently. It stars Hugh Laurie who plays a disgruntled doctor who goes after the complex cases in the hospital. It’s brilliantly written and probably the best medical drama on Netflix.

Charmed is a show about magic and witches although that’s trying to summarise the show a little too much. It’s a timeless series about three powerful witches who have to hunt down demons.

Finally, we have two great action drama in the form of The 4400 and Jericho. The latter was rumoured to be making a comeback as a Netflix Original but this looks to dispell that rumour completely.

Also Expiring from Netflix UK in January 2017

In addition to these shows mentioned above these titles are also due to expire from Netflix in the first few days of January.

  • The 4400
  • 90210
  • Angry Birds Toons
  • Attack on Titan
  • Black Butler
  • Blue Exorcist
  • Charmed
  • Curious George Series
  • Heidi
  • High School of the Dead
  • Jericho
  • Peppa Pig
  • Psycho Pass

Although these shows are leaving, there’s plenty of new stuff coming through December 2016 which will keep you streaming well into January 2017.
