December is going to be a great month for streaming!

From holiday specials to new seasons of hit Netflix Originals, December is going to be a great month! We’re finally getting very highly anticipated seasons of shows like The Crown and Peaky Blinders as well as new Originals that look very promising. Holiday Specials and New Year’s Countdowns

DreamWorks Home: For the Holidays Netflix Original

December 1st

Kelly Clarkson is getting animated for an out-of-this-world adventure of her own. Home for the Holidays comes on the tail of the third season of Home: Adventures With Tip & Oh, with humans and aliens now living in peace and harmony.

Trolls Holiday Special

December 6th

Dreamworks’ Trolls Holiday, based on its popular Trolls film, features the voice talents of all of the main cast of the original movie, including Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, and Zooey Deschanel. The holiday special follows the Troll Queen and her friends as they try to create a holiday for their less peppy neighbors.

New Year’s Eve Countdowns Netflix Originals

December 26th

Netflix has the perfect way to ring in the New Year with your little ones and still get them to bed at an early hour. With this collection of on-demand countdowns just for kids, they can still partake in all the excitement of the holiday, but at an hour of your choosing.

5. Easy: Season 2 Netflix Original

December 1st

This Netflix Original comedy anthology series explores diverse Chicago characters, modern romance, and culture. It’s chock full of big names. New stars joining the show include Aubrey Plaza and Judy Greer. Returning cast includes Dave Franco, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Micucci, Marc Maron, Kiersey Clemons, and Aya Cash. It’s a fun look at the love and sex lives of residents of Chicago’s North Side Lincoln Square neighborhood.


4. Dark: Season 1 Netflix Original

December 1st

Dark is Netflix’s first German-language original series. While you may quick to compare the series to Stranger Things, this is a much more somber, chilling show. There’s no playful nostalgia here—it’s a dark, slow-burner that fills you with dread. This mystery thriller plays with time, space, and murder.

3. Wormwood Netflix Original

December 15th

From award-winning director Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line) comes this documentary-scripted hybrid series. It’s the true story of a man’s journey to uncover the truth about his father’s death. Starring Peter Sarsgaard, the six-part series combines narrative scenes, archival footage, and interviews. Combining acting with Morris’ legendary interview style, Wormwood examines the case from every possible angle, bringing us face-to-face with some very dark secrets.


 2. Peaky Blinders: Season 4 Netflix Original

December 21st

This hit Netflix Original is a gangster drama located on the streets of post-war Birmingham on the verge of the 1920s. Season 4 will see the addition of some great actors to the already stellar cast. Joining is Adrien Brody as mafia scion Luca Changretta; Charlie Murphy as Jessie Eden, the trade union activist who made history in the 1920s fighting for equal pay for women; and Game of Thrones alum Aidan Gillen as Aberama Gold, a larger-than-life gypsy. Season 4 opens with Tommy estranged from the family. But when he realizes they are all in danger of annihilation, he summons them to return to the streets of Birmingham’s Small Heath, where a desperate fight for survival begins.


1. The Crown: Season 2 Netflix Original

December 8th

Season 2 of The Crown is by far the most anticipated on the list. It promises to be an extraordinary season filled with drama and stars. Jack and Jackie Kennedy make an appearance, there are rumblings of marital woes, children are on the horizon and Philip is coming into his own. These are just a few of the storylines that will keep you captivated. The Crown is dazzling both in look and execution and is worthy of the top spot in your December queue.
