Netflix has plenty in store for us in August, whether it’s Netflix Originals or new Children’s shows. Below you will find our list for the top 5 TV series that are soon to be added in the coming month.

Most of the top 5 consist of Netflix Originals, as unfortunately not many third party series has been added, the biggest one being Once Upon A Time.

There may be something we’ve missed, so take a look at the full list of titles coming in August and tell us in the comments below if you think another series should have been on the list, and why?

5. Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (Season 1)

The Original Wet Hot American Summer film is regarded as a cult classic and many fans were excited to hear that Netflix was creating a series that brought back all the original actors in the same roles. At the end of the 2001 film, there is a scene where all the characters sit down and agree to reunite a full 10 years later to see what sort of people they have grown up to be. Now in 1991, they resume their teenage-like antics like nothing has happened and must band together to save Camp Firewood from imminent closure. If you are one of the many who (despite the commercial failure) loved the original, you will be pleased to hear the sequel will be available to stream on the 4th of August.

4. DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge (Season 5)

Dragons: Race to the Edge is a continuation of the two DreamWorks films titled ‘How to Train a Dragon‘ and ‘How to Train a Dragon 2‘, both were very successful in the box office and captured the heart of many young fans. The fifth season of Hiccup and Toothless’s adventures have been eagerly awaited for and now you won’t have to wait much longer,  it will be ready to stream right to your living room on the 25th of August.

3. Atypical (Season 1)

This new Netflix original has been recently announced and is a dark comedy based around an Autistic 18-year-old, played by Keir Gilchrist. He decides that it’s finally time for him to attempt to find a girlfriend and in turn independence. The show has already received praise from many who feel it is an important story to tell and brings attention to autism and the pressures of ‘fitting in’. Atypical looks like a sweet Comedy/Drama perfect who people who love quirky shows full of both heartwarming and humorous moments.

2. Once Upon a Time (Season 6)

Once Upon a Time is an Adventure Fantasy that first released back in 2011. The 6th season of the ABC show is due to release on Netflix in late August and is actually the last season based on the current storyline. It has been announced that the seventh season will be a “soft reboot”, and a new story altogether. The show is quite unique and includes many fictional, well-known characters including (but not limited to) Tiger Lily, Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Captain Nemo and the Tin Man, as well as many original characters.

1. Marvel’s The Defenders (Season 1)

Netflix and Marvel fans alike are very familiar with the great series that Marvel has been bringing to Netflix for the last couple of years, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Now in typical ‘Avenger’ fashion, they are all being brought together for a miniseries titled ‘The Defenders’, where all four would-be heroes are being pitted against their common enemy, The Hand. The series has a lot of hype behind it and will debut on August 18th.
