It’s that time of the month, where we look at all the new TV series coming to US Netflix in June and pick out our top 5 picks and give you some reasons why you should definitely think about giving them a watch. For a full list of the new movies and new series coming in June, check out our preview.
A lot of series have been planned to be making a return over the next month, including some pretty big and popular titles like The Ranch (Part 3), Flacked (Season 2) and Quantico (Season 2).
5. Arrow (Season 5) The CW Exclusive Early Release
Netflix Release Date: June 1st, 2017
The CW show ‘Arrow’ has been running since 2012 and has gained quite a significant following and fanbase. They will definitely be pleased to hear that the billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is back with the 5th season and his relentless quest to clean up his city as the masked vigilante Arrow. Many people enjoy CW’s take on the superhero genre and this latest season will take place in conjunction with the second season of Supergirl and the third season of The Flash, which are other popular CW superhero shows that all take place in the same universe.
4. Shooter (Season 1)
Netflix Release Date: June 18th, 2017
Shooter is a new American drama based on the book ‘Point of Impact’ and the 2007 film starring Mark Wahlberg also titled ‘Shooter’. The series is being produced by USA Network and places Ryan Phillippe as the lead role of Bobby Lee Swagger, an ex-military marksman living in exile. But after learning of a plot to assassinate the president he must come out of hiding and brush up on his expert skills.
3. Grey’s Anatomy (Season 13)
Netflix Release Date: June 17th, 2017
The extremely popular and long-lasting series that is Grey’s Anatomy is returning for a 13th season very soon, adding the series up to nearly 300 episodes in total. Grey’s Anatomy is a Medical-based drama set at Seattle Grace Hospital and mostly focussed on Meredith Grey, the daughter of Dr. Ellis Grey; one of the best surgeons in the profession.
The show tackles many personal and professional problems as Meredith attempts to gain the same level of respect and professionalism as her mother.
The show has won 2 Golden Globes and is definitely deserving of a spot in our top 5.
2. The 100 (Season 4) The CW Exclusive Early Release
Netflix Release Date: June 1st, 2017
Another CW show is returning in June for a fourth season. The 100 is set 97 years after a nuclear war devastated the earth and almost all civilization. A small colony of humans is left orbiting the earth in what is known as “The Ark” (the combination of 12 space stations). Due to depleting supplies the colonists decide to send 100 juvenile criminals down to earth to test if the conditions are once again safe for human life to return.
The show has been subject to great reviews and seems to be only improving with time.
1. Orange is the New Black (Season 5) Netflix Original Series
Netflix Release Date: June 9th, 2017
Of course one of the biggest Netflix originals is ‘Orange is the New Black’, a comedy, crime, drama that takes place in an all women prison. Piper Chapman is a normal law abiding citizen who is charged with a decade old crime of transporting drug money and now must adapt quickly to prison life and all the challenges that come with it. Season 4 left on quite a cliffhanger and fans have been waiting eagerly to see what the next season holds for the inmates of Litchfield Prison.
