It’s been a busy year for anime on Netflix and an equally busy summer. We’ve put together the full list of all the anime that has arrived on Netflix this summer and all the title yet to arrive. Here’s your full list of Netflix anime releases summer 2019.

Rei is a 17-Year-Old high-school student and an elite Shogi (Japanese Chess) player. After the death of his family when he was still a child has left Rei distant and unsociable. To get away from the mounting pressure of Shogi and his adoptive family, Rei moves to an apartment building in Tokyo. Rei’s inept ability to look after himself and his reclusive personality pushes his peers away in school and at the Shogi table. But when he meets the Kawamoto family, Akari and her two younger sisters are determined to help Rei overcome his past trauma.


A Silent Voice (2016)

After almost committing suicide teenager Shoya Ishida reflects on his life’s journey and what led him to this moment. Looking back on his time in grade school, Shoya was a tormentor of a fellow classmate Shoko Nishimiya who is deaf. After getting in trouble for bullying, Shoya’s friends turned on him and ultimately became the victim of bullying himself once Shoko left the school. Determined to right his wrongs Shoya seeks out Shoko to offer his forgiveness in the hope of redemption.


Kakegurui (Season 2) Netflix Original

In the private academy of Hykakkaou, it isn’t your athletic ability or your academic skills that gets you to the top of the school. It’s your skill to read your opponent and to destroy them in a game of Poker or Black Jack. When newcomer Yumeko Jabami arrives at the school she shakes the very foundations of it to its core after as she teaches the students what it means to be a real gambler.


Aggretsuko (Season 2) Netflix Original

Another day and another dollar for 25-year-old Red-Panda Retsuko. Her modesty and diminutiveness lead to her being exploited by her lazy colleagues and whether it be sexist and misogynistic remarks by her boss and being annoyed by her condescending co-workers Retusko has a unique way of relieving her stress… singing death metal at her local Karaoke bar.


Fate/Zero (2 Seasons)

The Holy Grail, one of the most coveted items in human history is an item of immense power. With the ability to grant any wish, wars have been waged over the holy relic. Three wars have been fought in the past. The wars were so fierce and bloody, not a single victor stood at the end to make their wish. But as the fourth war approaches six participants with the help of histories greatest heroes and villains must fight for superiority to win the Holy Grail.


Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Season 1)

Kill la Kill (2 Seasons)

In the not too distant future, video gaming technology has developed immensely. Through Augmented Reality headsets, video gamers can now immerse themselves into the games they love. Kazuto Kirigaya or known online as Kirito was a beta tester for the highly anticipated game known as Sword Art Online. But upon the release of the video game, the gamers are shocked to learn they locked in the video game and the only escape is to complete all 100 floors of Aincrad. Kirito, trapped inside the game must utilize his skills as a gamer to become one of the best players of SAO and escape the game.


Neon Genesis Evangelion (Season 1)

In the year 2015, the world is on the cusp of destruction after the ‘Second Impact’ brings a global cataclysm. The life Shinji Ikari changes forever as after he is summoned to Tokyo by his father. Shinji’s father Gendou is the head of Nerv, an organization that utilizes the mechas known as Evangelions to battle the invading alien force. Shinji is taken into the very depths of Nerv and is granted a new destiny as he pilots Evangelion Unit-01, with that fate of the world on his and Nerv shoulder’s they must unite together to save the Earth.

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic (Season 2)

Throughout the ancient world, great labyrinths hide incredible treasures. These ‘dungeons’ are thought to be the work of Magi, rare magic users. The labyrinths that hide the treasure also hide the great Djinns, great supernatural beings of immense power with the ability to grant successful conquerors as the potential candidates to become the ruler of the world.

After living a life of isolation, the young Magi, Aladdin is eager to explore the world. When Aladdin accidentally destroys the local merchant’s supply cart, he suggests to his friends Ugo the Djinn and Alibaba that they seek out the nearest dungeon and take the treasures inside.


Forest of Piano (Season 2) Netflix Original

The series follows two young boys, the prodigy Kai Ichinose and piano student Shuhei Amamiya. Kai lives in the red light district but escapes from his home at night to play piano in the middle of the forest at night. After being picked on by bullies Shuhei is dared to go into the forest play music on the abandoned piano, where he meets Kai and they soon become friends.

Kai is the only one able to play on the abandoned Piano, impressed by his ability Shuhei asks him to take Piano lessons. Kai is resistant to taking lessons to refine his technique even after earning the respect of Shuhei’s teacher former Master Pianist Sosuke Ajino. It isn’t until Kai hears Sosuke play a piece of music from Chopin that he can’t play himself he finally gives in.


7 SEEDS (Part 1) Netflix Original

In the not too distant future, the world has a cataclysmic event that has seen all life on earth wiped off the face of the planet. Having foreseen this potential outcome the government selected 5 sets of seven young men and women and placed them into cryogenic sleep. PILI Fantasy: War of Dragons (Season 1)

After the death of Yuzuru Otonashi, he awakens in the afterlife. Upon arriving he is greeted by a rifle carrying girl Yuri, she explains to him he is now in the afterlife. Confused by this, Otonashi only remembers his name and nothing of his former life. Otonashi joins Yuri and the Afterlife Battlefront in her fight against a girl named Tenshi. Otanashi soon finds himself drawn to Tenshi, and as he struggles to regain his memories and understand Tenshi, he soon begins to unravel the mysteries of the Afterlife.


Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (Season 1)

After finishing the sixth grade, a group of childhood friends drifts apart after one of their friends, Meiko “Menma” Honma, dies in an accident. Five years on from the accident and Jinta Yadomi has become a recluse, doesn’t attend high school and blames himself for the death of his friend. During one Summer day, Yadomi is greeted by the ghost of an older looking Menma. The ghost asks Yadomi if he will help grant her wish, the only problem is Menma doesn’t remember what it is. Yadomi is able to gather his estranged friends to help him in his quest to grant Menma’s wish.


God Eater (Season 1)

In the not too distant future humanity has been brought to the brink of destruction by hostile man-eating monsters known as “Aragami.” Immune to weaponry wielded by Humans, humanity in a last-ditch effort to save the human race scientists infused oracle cells into special humans. Through the oracle cells, the special humans or better known as “God Eaters” are able to wield the God Arc, the only known weapon capable of killing an Aragami. The God Eater, Lenka Utsugi wields a new type of God Arc that takes the form of a blade and gun. It’s Lenka’s desire to wipe out the Aragami and to save the human race.


Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac (Season 1) Netflix Original

Netflix Release Date: July 19th, 2019

The story follows an orphan, Seiya, as he is forced to go to a sanctuary in Greece to obtain the Bronze Cloth of the Pegasus constellation. The cloth is, in fact, a protective armor worn by the Greek goddess Athena and her 88 warriors known as Saints. Seiya soon becomes the Pegasus Saint and goes on a quest to search for his missing sister.


Kengan Ashura (Season 1) Netflix Original

Netflix Release Date: July 30th, 2019

Since the Edo period of Japan, combatants have taken part in gladiatorial combat. Within the arenas are the powerful, wealthy and greedy businessman that hire gladiators on their behalf in a winner takes all fights. Bursting his way onto the scene is Tokita Ohma, joining the arenas and annihilating his opponents with ease. His skill and ability to destroy opponents has caught the eye of many within the arenas, with many fighters lining up to take Tokita Ohma on.

Tokita Ohma fighting on behalf of the Yamashita Trading Co. takes part in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament. With even more gladiators to fight Tokita Ohma can’t wait to test his might.


Cannon Busters (Season 1) Netflix Original

Hero Mask (Season 2) Netflix Original

Netflix Release Date: August 23rd, 2019

Agent James Blood of the SSC and Crown prosecutor Sarah Sinclair discover a conspiracy after bio-masks are linked to a series of mysterious deaths.
