Happy weekend! This has definitely been a quiet week for titles. While there isn’t an abundance of new additions, there are some pretty quality options. We take a look at some of the highlights and round up all of the titles that have been added over the last seven days.
Let’s start with some holiday spirit. Released just in time to kick things off right is the new Netflix Original The Christmas Chronicles. I have to be honest here, I went in with some skepticism. We all know the formula these movies go by and the bag of tricks that go with it. But this movie is a delight! Kurt Russell is a wonderful Santa, there are big cameos, and it isn’t schmaltzy. (That’s high on the list for me.) Is it going to win an Oscar? Nope. Is it a weird, fun film? Yup.You should add this movie to your queue.
I’ve never been one to strictly follow what most people watch for the holidays. In my book, Die Hard and L.A. Confidential are Christmas classics, and Goodfellas has always been one of my go-to must-watch movies for the holidays. Maybe it’s that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when you see that look in Jimmy’s eye and you just know he’s going to wack somebody. If you’ve never seen it, stop whatever you’re doing and watch it now.
A solid addition to the Netflix Original Comedy library, Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia was added this week. Host of The Daily Show, this is his second Netflix special. His humor is fun, smart, and he is a master storyteller. His look at life is to find the nugget of funny in every situation. I think we can all use a little more of that in our lives.
