‘Scream’ is streaming now on Netflix Canada.
Horray for Friday and happy Halloween weekend! We take a look at some of the highlights that have arrived this week and round up all the new titles added this week to Netflix Canada.
This was a bit of a light week as far as new additions go. The good news is quite a few titles will put you in the Halloween mood.
The gold standard of Halloween treats, Scream is new this week. Kinda scary but really fun, this subtle parody of Halloween movies past is directed by Wes Craven. If anyone knows spooky it’s Wes Craven. A prolific director of slasher films, he takes that knowledge and gives us this entertaining take on the genre. Not to mention he broke the mold by *SPOILER ALERT* killing a major character in the first scenes of the film. It may sound crazy now, but that was groundbreaking at the time. Scream is a must add to your weekend queue.
Another scary movie that verges on parody is The Cabin In the Woods. When five college friends arrive at a remote forest cabin for a little vacation, little do they expect the horrors that await them. The twist in this movie is fantastic and will keep you watching. Bonus: we get to see a young Chris Hemsworth.
Keeping with our slightly sinister theme, today sees the addition of the highly anticipated Netflix Original show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I have seen this series and would like to say up front that it’s not for your kiddos. It’s a great new grownup take on the little witch that could and her faithful cat. It’s a bit slow at first but keep with it. It gets magical.
