As the second week of April passes, we’re sure many of you are still bogged down in the incredible 150+ titles we saw arrive to our screens last week. This week’s additions seem like nothing in comparison but despite this, there are still some great titles to cover. Out of the 17 titles that have arrived over the past week, 10 are movies, 6 TV series, and one additional Netflix Standup show. As usual, we are going to take some time below to go over three titles in more detail. In order to help you decide what you might want to start watching.
Out first pick for this week is the new Netflix Original starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, 2012) ‘Come Sunday‘. The Drama follows Carlton Pearson, a preacher in rural America who is ostracised by his own church and cast out after he starts preaching that there is no Hell. The film is originally based on an episode of This American Life (a public radio series). Debuting at the Sundance Film Festival back in Janurary the film was received quite well and is definitely worth a watch.
Secondly, we have chosen to highlight the highly anticipated Netflix Original series ‘Lost in Space‘. After a family of colonists crash land on a mysterious and unknown alien planet they must survive against the odds, all the while discovering new and dangerous life-forms. The show is based on the 1965 series of the same name and takes place in the year 2046. The Robinson family is played by Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall and Maxwell Jenkins and the first season will span over 10 episodes.
‘The Nice Guys’ is our final pick for this week and is a 2016 Action, Comedy featuring Russel Crowe and Ryan Gosling. Set in the 1970’s the film follows a couple of somewhat incompetent private investigators who are forced to team up and investigate the apparent suicide of a famous porn star. The journey is quickly surrounded in chaos as the pair try to survive what might be a government conspiracy.
