New Releases on Netflix Canada (13th October 2017)

Published on EST

Only a couple more weeks till Halloween is upon us. In the meantime, new titles, whether it’s horror or not, keep spilling into Canadian Netflix. This past week has welcomed a total of 41 new titles, consisting of 22 new movies, 3 documentaries and an additional 16 TV shows. We have taken some time to pick out three productions from this list and briefly highlight them for your benefit. Feel free to take a look through the list yourself, and if you find anything that you think we should have pointed out, please let us know in the comments below.

Our first pick for this week is the popular Netflix Original ‘Riverdale‘, which has just returned for its second season. The Mystery, Drama is based on the original ‘Archie’ comics and takes place in a town full of secrets and darkness, following the shooting of a teenage boy. While the show is nothing like the original source material, the first season was received very well, and many fans will be pleased to see season 2 is ready to binge.

Our second highlight this week is another Netflix Original, this time the Horror film ‘The Babysitter‘. The film stars Samara Weaving as Bee, a seemingly perfect babysitter looking after Cole, whos madly in love with her. One night, Cole decides to stay up and creep downstairs, where he discovers Bee and her friends actually worship the devil and must perform a blood ritual. Things go from bad to worse with Cole spending the rest of his night attempting to elude the group and stay alive. The film looks promising, with a good balance of humour along with Horror, definitely worth a watch this Halloween.

The second season of the CW show ‘Supergirl‘ has also been added to Netflix Canada this past week. It followed the adventures of Superman’s cousin Kara, both personal and super. The show has had mixed reviews since its debut in 2015 but fans who enjoyed the first season of this Action, Drama will be more than pleased to see it on their Netflix Accounts.

This week’s Honourable Mentions include: Season 4 of the Netflix Original ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender‘, Season 12 of ‘Supernatural‘ and the debut of ‘MINDHUNTER‘ a new series on serial killers.
