The second month of 2018 is already upon us and it holds in store many great titles. But before we get stuck into this month let’s quickly just take a look at the past week and give you a list of everything that has come to Canadian Netflix. A total of 49 new titles have been added, along with 24 new movies, 11 documentaries, 14 TV series and an additional 4 new stand-up shows. Often it can be quite hard to sift through and find something that you might be interested in, so we’ve tried to help you out by highlighting three titles that standout specifically to us. Our first pick for this week is the Disney movie ‘Cars 3‘ that only debuted in cinemas back in July of 2017. The blockbuster movie has come to Netflix early due to a deal with Disney. The third film in the Cars fransise has been praised for returning more to its racing roots after the second movie mostly followed Mater becoming a spy. Lightning is back in the spotlight and the arrival of a new generation of race cars threatens his career and reputation as the best racer in the world, he must do all he can to stay in the race, literally.
Next, we have chosen to mention the new Netflix Original Documentary ‘Dirty Money‘. This 6-part series follows the documentation of various stories surrounding corruption, money laundering and greed. Episodes include the story on the Volkswagen emissions scandal, HSBC’s link to Mexican drug cartels and even Donald Trump. If this is the sort of thing that even slightly interests you, you should check this one out.
Lastly, this week also welcomes the 2017 film starring Scarlett Johansson ‘Ghost in the Shell‘. Originally based on the anime of the same name, this action, crime, drama follows “Major”, a cyber-enhanced super soldier who is tasked with stopping the worlds most dangerous criminals. But after learning that she has been lied to by the people who rebuilt her, Major is determined to discover what really lies in her past. The film received mixed reviews by some, but we still think this makes a great sci-fi action film that’s worth watching, especially now it’s available to stream on Netflix.
