The holidays are here and some great titles have been added for you to enjoy in between all the hustle and bustle. It’s important to remember to take the time to really enjoy the season and a great way to do that is to slow down with a movie. Bonus: you can multitask. Do some wrapping while you are curled up with a great Netflix selection. We’ve chosen three titles we think are deserving of a ‘nice’ spot on your list.
Our first pick is the second season of the lavish Netflix Original The Crown. Based on the award-winning play The Audience, this opulent historical drama details the life of Queen Elizabeth II from the 1940s to modern times. Starring Claire Foy and Matthew Smith, it also has an outstanding ensemble cast. From the luxurious costumes to the sprawling sets, this season does not disappoint. Dare I say it? It may be even better than the first.
Our second pick this week is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. This is easily the most fun of the comic book adaptations, from the incredible soundtracks to the one-liners. This installment sees our heroes protecting batteries for a very powerful alien race. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the very items they were sent to guard, they are forced to go on the run as an armada is been dispatched for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter’s parentage is finally revealed. It’s a fun watch with great music and the most important thing of all: BABY GROOT!
Our final pick this week is El Camino Christmas. It is a very different sort of Christmas movie. If you are looking for hugs and gooey moments, this isn’t the movie for you. It’s an offbeat film with a slew of great actors—Dax Shepard, Tim Allen, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Kurtwood Smith to name a few. It’s about a young man seeking the father he has never met who ends up barricaded inside of a liquor store with five other people on Christmas Eve. While trapped in the store they all make a connection. It isn’t the most original premise, but it moves swiftly and is very watchable.
