Groundhog Day is now available to stream on Netflix Canada
With only a few more days to go till Christmas we can happily report that a further 53 new titles have been added to the Netflix Canada library this week. You’ll be spoilt for choice as you and your family settle down for the holidays. Here’s what’s new on Netflix Canada this week for December 20th, 2019.
First of all, here are the past week’s top highlights:
Groundhog Day (1993)
In one of his best roles to date, Bill Murray stars in one of the best comedies of the 90s, Groundhog Day. A true classic, the excellent writing from and directing from the late Harold Ramis makes Groundhog Day a real treat.
A selfish and self-centered weatherman, Phil Connors, of a Pennsylvanian news station is sent to the town Punxsutawney to cover the Groundhog Day festivities. Making no secret of his contempt for the ‘hicks’ of Punxsutawney, he is eager to leave early. But when a snowstorm strands them in the town, Phil awakens to discover that tomorrow hasn’t come, and soon finds himself reliving the same day, over and over again.
Star Trek (2009)
The past ten years of cinema have been defined by the great number of reboots that beloved franchises have received. One of the better reboots of this era belongs to JJ Abrams’ Star Trek. With an excellent cast of actors that have nailed down their characters perfectly, the slight alteration in the new iteration of the classic sci-fi franchise sets itself apart from the original beloved series and movies.
In a tragic turn of events, the Federation starship the USS Kelvin is destroyed after a Romulan ship emerges from a strange wormhole. Onboard was George Kirk, first-officer onboard and father of James Kirk. After sacrificing his life for the sake of his wife and newborn son, George dies while they survive. Years later James grows up to be rebellious, womanizing and incredibly cocky. When reports of the Romulan ship emerges once again, James enlists in the enlists and joins the crew of the USS Enterprise.
The Witcher: Season 1 N
The Witcher has been one of the most highly anticipated Originals in 2019, and considering we’ve had Stranger Things and The Dark Crystal in the same year, says everything.
Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a mutated human with the ability to wield great power. As a Witcher, Geralt travels the sprawling continent, hunting the great number of beasts and paranormal creatures that haunt the landscape, for a price of course. The further Geralt travels, struggling to find his place in the world, he soon learns that the worst monsters are the ones we create.
