Gangs of New York is new on Netflix for August 20th
It’s Tuesday and a new week but Netflix is starting the week rather quietly. We do, however, have a new feature for you at the bottom and a couple of weekend additions we need to cover too.
First, we’ll catch up with all the brand new Netflix US releases before taking a look at what’s also left and what Netflix UK, CA and Aus got today.
Gangs of New York (2002)

Nominated for a whopping 10 Oscars is the fantastic Gangs of New York featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Daniel Day-Lewis.
The movie set back in the mid-1800s is about a person returning to New York City seeking revenge for the death of his family. It’s a stunning movie that will set you up nicely for the upcoming Scorsese movie headed exclusively to Netflix at the end of the year.
Simon Amstell: Set Free (2019)
Genre: Comedy
Director: Julia Knowles
Cast: Simon Amstell
Runtime: 51 mins
British comedian Simon Amstell is mainly known for his appearances on British panel shows and is off-beat and frankly, a little strange.
In this special which clocks in at just under an hour, the stand-up covers topics like love, ego, intimacy, and ayahuasca.
The Punisher (2004)
Genre: Action, Crime, Drama, Thriller
Director: Jonathan Hensleigh
Cast: A. Russell Andrews, Omar Avila, James Carpinello, Mark Collie
Runtime: 124 min
Released on Netflix on August 17th
This isn’t the first time 2004 disaster that is The Punisher has been on Netflix nor will it likely be the worst. If you’re a fan of the TV series (and we suspect many are) then this is probably worth checking out to see how much better the Netflix series actually is.
The movie saw some big names involved but was at a time when Marvel couldn’t really get anything right with the exception of the X-Men movies.
