Burlesque (2010)

Runtime: 119 min
Cher and Christina Aguilera headline this 2010 glitzy musical movie about a small-town girl who moves to Los Angeles and gets a job in a neo-burlesque club ran by a famous dancer.
The movie was a box office smash hit and also saw an album released alongside.
Despite mixed reviews from critics and generally favorable user reviews, the movie ended up winning a Golden Globe.
The Danish Girl (2015)
Genre: Biography, Drama, Romance
Director: Tom Hooper
Cast: Alicia Vikander, Eddie Redmayne, Tusse Silberg, Adrian Schiller
Runtime: 119 min
This biopic on the Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener was considered groundbreaking when it released almost five years ago. The Oscar-winning flick is about the love story between the two but perhaps, more importantly, explores how their marriage morphs when Lili comes out as transgender.
Alicia Vikander (who recently starred in Netflix’s Earthquake Bird) and Eddie Redmayne put in fantastic performances throughout the movie.
The Magicians (Season 4)
Genre: Drama, Fantasy, Mystery
Cast: Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta
Our final highlight of today’s new additions is The Magicians from Syfy.
The series is perhaps one of the best shows airing on Syfy but it’s also turned into one of the best science fiction shows with a complex plot.
If you haven’t seen the series before, it’s about an academy where students wield magical abilities.
