TGIF and welcome to your Friday roundup of what’s new on Netflix. In total, 18 new releases hit Netflix today split between nine new TV series and specials and nine movies. Of the 18 new releases, 10 of which are Netflix Originals.
This weekend will see a few movies added to the service too including Nothing to Lose 2 tomorrow and From Paris With Love on Sunday.
Now let’s take a look at the new releases for Friday, December 6th:
Mariage Story (2019)
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Director: Noah Baumbach
Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Merritt Wever, Adam Driver, Laura Dern
Runtime: 136 min
Last week, Netflix dropped its main Oscar hope The Irishman but coming in closely behind it is Marriage Story which also has high aspirations this coming award season.
Featuring the talents of Noah Baumbach behind the camera and Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson in front of it, it tells a heart-wrenching story of a family relationship breaking down with both adults living on either sides of the country.
THE RUM DIARY (2011)
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Director: Bruce Robinson
Cast: Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Rispoli, Amber Heard
Runtime: 119 min
Bruce Robinson writes and directs this adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel starring Johnny Depp.
The biopic looks at American journalist Paul Kemp who moves to Puerto Rico to work at a local newspaper during the 1960s.
Fuller House (Season 5 – Part 1)
Genre: Comedy, Family
Cast: Michael Campion, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber
The first nine episodes of the final season of Fuller House dropped on Netflix today. Bring your tissue box as you will absolutely be in tears with the cast beginning their farewell season wrapping up some excellent storylines.
Virgin River (Season 1)
Genre: Drama
Cast: Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Colin Lawrence
Developed by Sue Tenney based on the novel series by Robyn Carr, this romance series follows a nurse practitioner who moves to the sticks to start her life afresh.
Amazingly, we’re still waiting for an official trailer to be released by Netflix themselves. However, if you loved Hart of Dixie, give this show a shot.
You’ll notice quite a few Nollywood movies added today which are all available in English and are some of the biggest from the region.
