Drive is now on Netflix – Picture: FilmDistrict
Happy Saturday and if you’re not already busy enough watching any of the 26 new titles added yesterday, binging through Disney+ or having a life outside entertainment, Netflix just dropped another six fantastic titles onto the service. Here’s what’s new on Netflix for November 16th.
It’s worth noting that Disney+ only saw eight new additions this week (excluding launch day content) which consisted mainly of individual new episodes. Netflix added 13 new seasons of content alone yesterday.
We’ve already published our favorite movies of the week (excluding today’s new releases) and we’ll be rounding up our favorite TV series of the week tomorrow.
Now that’s off our chests, let’s move onto the day’s new releases:
Drive (2011)
Genre: Crime, Drama
Director: Nicolas Winding Refn
Cast: Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks
Runtime: 100 min
Awards: Nominated for 1 Oscar. Another 77 wins & 170 nominations.
Making its first-ever debut on Netflix is the Ryan Gosling crime-action flick, Drive. Not to be confused with the recent Hindi Netflix Original movie, this 2011 Oscar-nominated movie was a hit with both critics and audiences alike.
Gosling stars as an unnamed driver who is traditionally a Hollywood stuntman who gets involved in trouble.
Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2019)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Director: Timo Vuorensola
Cast: Lara Rossi, Vladimir Burlakov, Kit Dale, Julia Dietze
This movie truly needs to be seen to be believed. The downright outrageous movie has it all, war, fantasy, reptiles, dinosaurs, and an absolutely ridiculous plot and it’s wonderful.
This is a sequel to the original 2012 movie which is sadly not on Netflix. However, that’s not necessary in keeping up with the plot.
Suffragette (2015)
Genre: Biography, Drama, History
Director: Sarah Gavron
Cast: Anne-Marie Duff, Grace Stottor, Geoff Bell, Carey Mulligan
Runtime: 106 min
Language: English
Awards: 16 wins & 15 nominations.
Our third and final pick of today’s new releases is Suffragette. The movie takes us back to the start of the 20th Century in the United Kingdom and shows us the birth and rise of the Suffragette movement.
It’s a great biopic that features quite a few actresses who are appearing in Netflix Originals at the moment. Helen Mirren recently appeared in The Laundromat whereas Helena Bonham Carter features in tomorrow’s third season of The Crown.
