New This Week on Netflix
It has been a quiet week on Netflix, but there is still good watching time ahead of you this weekend.
You made it to Friday. July has been hot, hot, hot so what better reason to stay in and binge? It has been a quiet week, but we still got a few good titles worth adding to your queue. There are some series worth binging and fans of standup will have a few titles to choose from.
Below are my picks for the week. As with each list, I have seen them all and would personally recommend them.
For your convenience, a full list of the titles added this week is at the end of this article. To keep up with additions be sure to follow our What’s New page, updated daily.
Drug Lords Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
Jim Jefferies: This Is Me Now Netflix Original
Back at Netflix for an all-new show, the brash and irreverent Jim Jefferies touches on subjects from being a single dad to being poor and famous. You may be familiar with him because of his now viral gun control routine. He revisits the subject and talks about what it has been like to become known and recognized for that material. He’s an incredible storyteller and his latest effort is outstanding.
The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants Netflix Original
Based on the series of incredibly successful books, the show follows two fourth graders who spend their days playing pranks and making comic books. Their nemesis is their principal, who they just happen to hypnotize into becoming a superhero whenever they snap their fingers. This show is smart and silly and very fun. I love that it breaks into other mediums using clay figures and felt puppets or cutouts on Popsicle sticks. It’s a show that is just as much fun for the grownups as the kids.
Sugar Rush Netflix Original
Netflix’s latest addition to their extensive food show lineup is a brand new competitive baking series. Contestants must race against the clock to serve up the most delectable treats. Four teams, three rounds of competition and one sweet cash prize.
Gone Baby Gone
Ben Affleck directs this dark mystery drama about a detective hired to trace a missing girl in his old neighborhood in Boston. Time is running out and the detective discovers the real danger is very close to home. It’s a film that will have you on the edge of your seat. Starring Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman, this is one you definitely want to add to your watchlist this weekend.
