The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell: Season 1 Netflix Original
This isn’t your usual DIY show. It’s a baking show with a plot. There’s an actual story that goes along with the fantastic creations being made. And did I mention the puppets? The series is co-produced by the Jim Henson Company’s Creature Shop. Let me tell you, those puppets are pretty funny. The show has a wonderful strange sense of humor that deserves to be appreciated. For example, one of the puppets is unhappy and decides to burn the house down. Christine McConnell stands and says “What have I said about arson?” The puppet replies “Never leave evidence.” You’re going to like this show.
The Kindergarten Teacher Netflix Original
This tense drama stars Maggie Gyllenhaal as a teacher who develops an unhealthy interest in one of her students. Captivated by one of his poems she is determined to see that he gets the proper attention. She inserts herself into his life. Gyllenhaal is fantastic as a desperate woman struggling to be heard.
The Haunting of Hill House: Season 1 Netflix Original
Inspired by the book by Shirley Jackson, this series is about five siblings who grew up in the most famous haunted house in America. Now as adults, they’re reunited by a tragic event and forced to finally confront the ghosts of their own pasts. This series is wonderfully put together. I believe it may be the best thing I have seen on Netflix in some time. Be sure to make room in your schedule to binge this one.
