New on Netflix UK This Week (October 12th)

Twilight Saga now on Netflix

It’s crazy to think we’re almost halfway through the month of October already! But with a new week comes even more new titles added to the library. With 34 new additions this week you’ll be spoilt for choice.

The ever-popular Twilight series makes a return to Netflix and with all 5 films available to stream. For those few out there that are unaware of what Twilight is here’s a brief rundown for you. Back in the mid-2000’s author Stephenie Meyer released the first title in her Vampire novella, with an alternate approach to Vampirism it’s been set in the hearts of many teenage girls. The story is centered around the mortal Bella who moves to her father’s home in Forks, Washington. As she starts her new life in high-school she finds herself drawn to the mysterious Edward Cullen. After a fateful encounter, it is revealed to Bella that Edward is, in fact, a Vampire. Rather than being a hunter of humans, his family drinks from the blood of animals instead. Soon finding themselves falling in love with one another, Bella must come to terms with the dangers of having a Vampire as her boyfriend.

One of the latest in Netflix’s additions to their Originals line-up is the harrowing true-life story of 22 July. The film is a dramatized take on the actions before, during and after the Norway terrorist attacks in 2011. The terrorist that committed the atrocities is known to the world as Anders Breivik. Before his attack on the Utoya summer camp, he left a van parked outside the offices of Norwegian prime minister full of explosives. The focus of the film is on those that survived and trial and ordeal they had to go through on their road to recover what pieces of their lives had been shattered.

In addition to many new Netflix Originals that are arriving thick and fast is the arrival of Apostle. Having only just debuted last month at the Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas the hype for the release of the gory horror/thriller on Netflix has been fantastic. Apostle, directed by the man behind The Raid films, sees the story take place on a remote island where a strange religious cult resides. Heading to the island is Thomas Richardson, not to join the cult but to get back his sister after the cult kidnapped her. After having turned down their request for money to give his sister back, Thomas takes matters into his own hands.

For some honorable mentions for this week, we got the first episode of season 3 of Riverdale and season 1 of Haunting of Hill House. The Haunting of Hill House has only released today has garnered massive praise already from critics and fans alike. The Haunting of Hill House is based on the novel of the same this frightful story will leave you sleeping with the light on.
