New Releases on Netflix UK (18th November 2016)

You’ve gotta love the ‘middle of the month’ additions that we seem to be getting recently. Not content with the ‘first of the month’ mass additions, Netflix UK seem to be adding some really great content halfway through the month.

First up we have the classic film “Das Boot” set in 1942. Join the crew of a German U-Boat during the Battle for the Atlantic when British ships were increasingly able to take out the submarines. It’s claustrophobic, it’s dark and, overall, it’s a classic.

Another classic is the family-friendly “The Dark Crystal” from Jim Henson. Set in another time and on another planet after an evil race has damaged the Crystal of Truth bringing the world into a very dark era. Jen, a Gelfing, has to find and heal the Crystal of Truth.

“Last Chance to See” is a great documentary series based on the late Douglas Adams’ book of the same name. In 1989 he toured the world with Mark Carwardine finding 20 of the most endangered animal on earth. 20 Years on Carwardine, along with Stephen Fry, retrace those steps to see what the current state of the endangered anmals are.

“Shooter” is a new series that follows Bob Lee Swagger, an ex-marine, as he gets called back into action to prevent the assassination of The President. However, it transpires that he has been framed and must try to prove his innocence and protect his family. New episodes are added weekly after the show airs in the USA.

And for the younger viewers we have “The Book of Life”, a musical, animated comedy. The film sees Manola struggling to choose between the life that his family expect him to fulfill and following his heart. Set across three fantastical worlds we see Manola looking at his past in order to look ahead to the future.
