scream terra-nova planes

Yes yes, we’re fully aware that it’s not Friday but we thought you’d like to see the ‘First Of The Month’ additions on the day they were added, so this week’s post is a day earlier than normal. First of all you’ll probably notice a good number of documentaries again this week. Quite a lot of the Nova series have been added – I’ve watched a few of these and they’re well made and interesting to watch. Most of them are under an hour so can be useful for ‘filler’ when you don’t quite have time for a full movie.

The short-lived “Terra Nova”, cancelled by Fox after just one season, has been added. This sci-fi series follows the Shannon family as they flee the 22nd century and settle 85 million years in the past. In the new colony, called Terra Nova, a group of industrialists are trying to strip the earth of it’s resources and send them to the future and it’s up to the Shannons, and others, to keep pre-historic earth alive. Even though viewings and ratings were good, there was only one season made – take a look and let us know what you think.

“Scream” returns too, this time to the small screen with the addition of the new TV series. Initially aired in June this year on MTV, this is now branded as a ‘Netflix Original’ (although I think ‘Netflix Exclusive’ would be a better description). When a cyberbullying incident goes viral and leads to a brutal murder in Lakewood, the town’s past is dragged back into memory. Played out over 10 episodes, a group of teenagers tries to find out who the new killer is in a dangerous game of ‘whodunnit’.

And, finally this week, for the younger viewers Netflix UK have added Disney’s “Planes”. Similar in style to the popular Cars franchise, Planes sees Dusty the Crop Duster trying to achieve his goal of racing all over the world – there’s only one problem though, he’s afraid of heights… Planes is a fun film, perhaps not quite on the same level as Cars, but kids (and adults) will enjoy it.
