Two new Netflix exclusives this week. First we have the new series “Narcos” which follows the violent exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar. Escobar earned millions of dollars refining and selling cocaine through the 70’s and this is a highly anticipated Netflix series; all 10 episodes are available now. The second Netflix exclusive this week is the return of “From Dusk Till Dawn”. Based on the Tarantino film of the same name, the series follows the Gecko Brothers and a series of vampire-based events. The first season (from early 2014) was essentially an extended version of the film with a lot more emphasis on their history so it will be interesting to see where season 2 takes the story. New episodes are added every Wednesday after they air in the USA.
“12 Angry Men” has been a popular addition this week too. The 1957 courtroom drama follows 12 jurors as they decide the fate of a young man accused of killing his father who, if found guilty, would face the death penalty. What starts as an open and shut case soon becomes a drawn out discussion where the jurors have their doubts about the case and about each other. The film shows the preconceptions and prejudices of each juror and is based on the stage show of the same name.
And, finally, for the younger viewers this week we have been given the 2003 version of “Peter Pan”. Often regarded as the best version of this popular story, Pan flies into the Darling’s home and takes the children to Neverland to help his battle with Captain Hook.
